About this mod

Tweaks to bring modded armor in line with vanilla scaling. No more crafting endgame armor from a few bits of leather.

Sharing balance tweaks I've made to modded armor sets I use. These are amazing pieces and my goal was to give each set a place in my game. Also, to not be able to make endgame-tier armor from a just handful of leather at level 3, because that felt terribly un-immersive.

The FOMOD lets you choose which sets you want to install my tweaks for. See screenshots for details.

Cloth variants have not been adjusted at this time.

No conflict with bodyslide or texture mods, unless they have a plugin.

Tweaks
Guiding Principles
  • Pieces from same set are in same tier
  • Crafting recipes make sense for tier as well as design elements
  • Armor tier makes sense with visuals, relative to other sets
  • Weight and value scale along regression curves set by vanilla armor for light and heavy, respectively

Main Tweaks
  • Armor rating & material type keywords
  • Item weight & vendor value
  • Crafting recipe & smithing perk requirement
  • Tempering recipe

Quality-of-Life Additions
  • Unarmed damage scaling keyword on gauntlets that were missing it
  • Survival keywords on pieces that were missing them
  • Pick up/Put down sounds on pieces missing them
  • Crafting/Tempering recipes for some pieces missing them (more work to be done here)
  • No book crafting requirement for basic version of sets
  • All armor crafted at Smithing Forge, for consistency with Skyrim's crafting logic

Sets I've come across which are pretty well balanced out-of-the-box, by my estimation:
