About this mod
A quick, immersive and realistic wearable ENB (CS) light lantern mod with support for NPCs and Followers

This mod aims to bring an easy to manage realistic light source into your even darkest playthroughs. CS, ENB and lighting mods have progressed to more modern and realistic lighting models removing fake lights/glowing walls... which by nature makes Skyrim's interiors and nights a lot darker. Let's embrace it, since that's just how it is and dungeons and the nightly wilderness should be eerie and dangerous! But, without a proper light source navigating through the darkness of nights, riften sewers, nordic ruins,... can quickly become deadly. Well, best to have both hands free! Quick Beri combines the quick access of Quick Light and Eld-beri's particle light lanterns. The lanterns and lighting were overhauled to create a more natural and atmospheric lighting experience.
Since version 2.x with support for NPCs and Followers!
- Realistic and atmospheric ENB complex particle lights powered lanterns
- Quickly turn the lanterns on and off by long pressing the activation key (default: E) or with the toggle key (default: L)
- Choose in the MCM between quick (default) and immersive mode. Immersive mode requires a lantern to be equipped to be toggleable. Quick mode doesn't require anything but you can only use the lantern configured in the MCM.
- All folks of Skyrim can wear Quick Beri lanterns including followers
- MCM Menu to adjust the keyboard settings, brightness, lantern light types, NPC/follower settings, ...
- 5 different lantern lights: pure (most similar to daylight), fire, ice, firefly (green), mystic (purple)
- The lantern light is detectable by enemy NPCs
- Configurable armor slot (default is 58 - same as bandolier pouch front left)
- Endless duration
- Natively supports Community Shaders and ENB
- Does not count against the shadow casting number limit
- Community Shaders with LLF or ENB
- SKSE
- SkyUI SE
- SPID (if you want to use the NPC/Follower feature)
- FLM - Form List Manipulator
- CID - Container Item Distributor
This mod should be compatible with any mod that is not another lantern mod. I tested this mod with a ~1400 mods list and haven't found any issues besides the one below. If you want to use Quick Beri for the player lantern but not for the NPC/Follower lanterns, simply disable the feature in the Quick Beri MCM.
Partially incompatible with Immersive Interactions. To get rid of the message "No Nearby Iterms to Interact With" when long pressing the activation key, go into the MCM Menu of Immersive Interactions -> Settings -> Special Interactions and switch off "Show Warning If Interaction Failed". Alternatively, use a different hold key in the MCM Menu of Quick Beri.
Install Quick Beri like any other mod with your favourite mod manager. Installation can be done mid-game. To uninstall Quick-Beri mid-game, disable the mod in the MCM menu first before removing it from the load order.
CS users: You can adjust the light radius/colour/brightness of the emitted particle lights in the ParticleLights/fxquickberi.ini file. (See the docs here for more details).
Updating from versions with the same major number (1.x -> 1.y, 2.x -> 2.y) is safe and can be done mid-game if not specified otherwise.
- The performance compared to Eld-beri II has increased considerably
- Highly efficient papyrus scripts
- The difference between lanterns turned on and off is around 2-5fps (CS) and 4-8 fps (ENB)
- No difference between 1st and 3rd person anymore due to an optimized 1st person mesh
(The fps are an estimate based on my rig but should give you a rough idea about the performance impact)
- Turn the lantern light on and off by long pressing the activation key (Keyboard: E, XBOX: A, PS: X) or using the toggle key (default: L).
- Keyboard keys and a lot of other settings can be adjusted in the MCM menu. For example choose between immersive and quick (default) mode.
- In immersive mode, the player needs a lantern in the inventory (buyable at traders) and equipped to be able to turn the light on with the hot keys.
- In quick mode (the default), the MCM configured lantern is automatically added/removed to the inventory and (un-)equipped with hot keys.
- Lanterns can be bought, pickpocketed, ...
- Choose between different lantern lights and colors: fire (orange), pure (close to sunlight), ice (white), firefly (green), mystic (purple)
- Going to sleep with lights turned on automatically turns the lantern off
- Changing into a werewolf unequips the lantern. Lanterns are not usable in werewolf form. This also counts for followers which change into werewolves (for example by a mod that enables follower werewolves).
I've tried to integrate NPCs carrying Quick Beri lanterns into the world of Skyrim in a natural and seamless way. This means that not all NPCs carry lanterns and a few people still walk the streets in the dark. However, all guards, imperial soldiers and nords use a lantern at night. Kahjiit simply don't need a lantern and thieves and rogues prefer dark corners that stay dark, ...
