Northpoint is an amazing New Land mod released by ionis and currently supported by TheShiningAbsol. It's a mod that uses a passive narration, there are no dialogues but there are some letters and clues you can find around that tell you more or less what's happening, if you keep your eyes open.
These are some patches and tweaks for such mod, patches that require other mods and also my little 2-cents to make it more enjoyable.
All the files are patched to Andrealphus "Missives of Northpoint" and independent from each other.
Pick what you want.
Long Version
#1: QoL
There is a reavers' camp in Northpoint, within you can find a key for a certain place. There is a chance said key can be lost, since it happen to be in a respawnable point, now an extra copy of that key can be found in a safe not-respawning strongbox, in the reavers' camp.
The Temple of Julianos is flagged as no-reset zone, since it seems an ideal place as a squatter player home (you'd still need to be wary of guards when you are picking the lock). It may still be picked by some quests from Missives, but I think it make sense since it's basically an abandoned place.
#2: Books
Adds "Spirits of Northpoint" unused book in the leveled item list, in tier 1; (the book is empty, though, one day I'll try to write it... maybe)
Replace a common book in the Whistling Chimes, with a journal that seemed inteded to be in that dungeon (EditorID was IANPCavTheWhistlingJournal);
#2b: Books(LotD compatibility patch)
Alternative version to #2. It does the same, and also replaces any book present in Northpoint and Legacy of the Dragonborn with the LotD version of said book, for compatibility with LotD library. Install THIS or the normal version.
#3: Letters from Northpoint
This places some letters and a journal that are my personal narration of Northpoint current situation.
Just me pinching in something.
Locations
- In Waterside, a letter gives a bit of a backstory to how the previous owner of that house got all the riches you can find in that place.
- In the Courthouse, the secretary of the guardhouse left a note for one of the scouts with some locations to check.
- In Dorell Manor, the Baron dropped his disillusioned personal report of the current situation on some table, with some insight on Northpoint and the description of more locations.
- In the personal quarters of the lords of Grimbeck and Normar there are notes that may be worth checking.
#4: Balmora Blue (Requires Skooma Improved)
Adding to a scenario of the "Letters" above (not required, but it works with that), in a certain non-respawning chest there is a big stash of Balmora Blue.
Sell it, use it, drop it. Whatever, I won't judge.
(Note about Skooma Improved: the requirements listed are suggestions, not hard requirements, the mod works properly even without them
also tech)
#5: Resurgence of Morag Tong Compatibility patch (Requires Resurgence of Morag Tong)
In Betalille's mod "Resurgence of Morag Tong" appear some Fryse Hags. With this patch RoMT's Fryse Hags will share some similarities with their fellows of Northpoint.
#6: Cool Malacath Axe (Requires Gro-Kayra - Rage of the Ashen Forge)
A New-Land mod always need a touch of the Daedra.
This patch adds the daedric axe of Malacath, Gro-Kayra (from spaz490) in a certain place of Northpoint and a book in the shop of a local Orsimer detailing a bit of the local orcs' history and said axe's legend (I reworked a bit the lore provided from spaz490, adapting it to Northpoint).
Also the patch edits the crafting recipes of said weapon. Now you can you can forge all the version of this weapon only if you have a Ashen Rage battle axe in your inventory, otherwise the recipes won't appear (basically, you use the original to make a very detailed replica), this is both for not cluttering your crafting menu and for making the axe more rewarding.
#7: Northpoint's Follower (Requires MW Katherine)
Adds the breton knight Katherine (from Lexa0100) in Northpoint. Katherine had some personal troubles with the local law, so chances are she will be glad to leave town for a bit. For more informations, there is a letter about her in Northpoint's Courthouse.
Katherine now wields a local weapon and has her own schedule (she will eat at the tavern a couple times a day, patrol town, report at the courthouse at night and if possible try to sneak in the Temple of Julianos to catch some sleep).
#7b: Northpoint's Reluctant Follower (Requires MW Katherine)
Alternative version to #7. Does the same, but Katherine's relationship with you is initially low, under the threshold for being a follower. So you'll have to use some third party mod to earn her trust first (I use Sidequests of Skyrim and works perfectly, but in general any framework that help you raise your relationship with an NPC should work).
Earn her trust, and earn a follower... or otherwise just let her be and she'll keep doing her things.
Install THIS or the normal version.
F.A.Q.
- ESP-FE?
Everything ESP-FE my friend, everything. If I had a sist-
wait, wrong quote.
- Safe to install mid-game?
I made those mid-game, so yes. If you want to be extra-careful install them when you are still in Skyrim.
- Lore-friendly?
As much lore-adjacent as I could using Northpoint as baseline.
- AE or SE?
Built on SE 1.5.97 but I can't see any reasons these should not work on any 1.6+ version.
- Is this compatible with...
Confirmed compatibility with Northpoint's Boars. Hopefully no other mods affects these particular records.
Credits to ionis and TheShiningAbsol for creating and keeping updated this nice mod.
