This is a version of Amazing Follower Tweaks by Dheuster, modified into Immersive Amazing Follower Tweaks by chinagreenelvis, and ported to SSE by Velgath.
Dheuster has provided open permissions to his mod as long as he is credited. chinagreenelvis has granted his additional content to the Public Domain.
This will replace AmazingFollowerTweaks.esp in your load order. The original is not needed.
Switching from AFT or any other follower management mod mid-game may or may not work and is not recommended.
If you do plan to switch or update mid-game, first use the AFT Reset option to dismiss your followers and follow the instructions that pop up when you use it. Be sure you give the reset function time to complete the process! Then create a clean save by deactivating the mod before making the switch. You can then attempt to make the change, provided the AFT Reset option works properly for you. If it doesn't, begin a new game.
Notice: I will not troubleshoot issues with custom followers, or issues caused by switching from other follower management mods without starting a new game.
CHANGES
This version of AFT adds new functionality and makes several important changes:
- "Tweak Options" is substituted with a much smaller and more immersive "Let's talk about your abilities" menu.
- Followers will now relax when waiting.
- A waiting option for the entire party will appear in the main dialogue menu when there is more than one follower.
- The mod is compatible with the Cicero dances and friendly-fire spell patches on the original AFT download page.
- Followers who have been dismissed will re-equip their best gear automatically when re-hired.
- If either Frostfall or Sabre Gear Backpack are installed, new followers will be given a backpack.
- Follower carry weights have been reduced. (Adjustable)
- Followers can be killed by default, but that option now involves a chance of death on bleedout. (Adjustable)
- Most messagebox pop-ups have been disabled.
- A new power, called "Leadership", has been added. Using it will toggle the ability to recruit non-essential characters as followers through the standard dialogue menu. By default, essential and certain other NPCs cannot be recruited as a "safe" option. Another targeted spell, called "Leadership (Advanced)" will work on any NPC.
- Default options have been changed throughout the mod to recommended settings for immersion.
- SkyUI users will have access to a limited MCM.
- Helmet options take immediate effect.
- The active follower limit has been increased to 30. The number of total slots available is now 90.
- Werewolf and werebear followers will now change into beast form along with the player (optional DLC patch required).
- Optional throw-voice bugfix in MCM: Followers are no longer added to the player faction in order to avoid the "Hey!" shout voice issue that arises when using USSEP and certain custom NPCs. AFT'shorse riding feature will be disabled if the fix is active. I suggest a mod like Convenient Horses instead.
- Problems with the Boethiah questline have been fixed.
FEATURE CLARIFICATION
- Leadership is toggle power. When enabled it makes all non-essential NPCs recruitable via the "Join me. I could user your help" dialogue option.
- Leadership (Advanced) is a targeted spell. When cast on an essential NPC, it makes them recruitable via the dialogue option used with the regular Leadership power enabled. If you get the message "Resisted: Spell already in effect", then the NPC already has this feature enabled and should be recruitable with Leadership toggled on.
- Active Follower Limit is 5 without Leadership enabled (same as AFT). With Leadership enabled it is 30.
- Other AFT Features: Almost all features from AFT still exist and function within iAFT, some are however not set to be available by default (mostly in the interest of immersion). If you can't find a feature from AFT, you can open the MCM and set "Dialogue Menu" to "AFT Menu". This will return the original AFT's dialogue-style, and include all of its features.
Note that forcing Essential NPCs to use iAFT may break certain quests. As a specific example, I would avoid forcing Serana to use the iAFT system until the Dawnguard questline is complete.
UPDATING
Unless specifically mentioned in the changelog, no further updates should require the start of a new game, but it may be good practice to use the AFT Reset option after updating. If all else fails, test by starting a new game with all other mods disabled and your scripts folder temporarily renamed.
MOD COMPATIBILITY
3DNPC (Interesting NPCs) is compatible, but you may need to use the Creation Kit or TES5Edit to remove the hard-coded "essential" status of some NPCs before they can be chance-killed in iAFT.
Follower Trap Safety will be redundant. AFT has a built-in follower trap trigger setting.
Lethal Traps is compatible with everything except bear traps and will override AFT's follower safety feature on those. You can use it with Follower Trap Safety and place both below AFT.
Convenient Horses is partially compatible. Ensure it is loaded after iAFT, and disable iAFT's "followers use horses", and "catch up on weapon draw" features (this will require enabling the "AFT Menu" style "Dialogue Menu" in the MCM, and navigating to the settings through AFT's default "Follower Options" dialogues). It also conflicts with Relationship Dialogue Overhaul (RDO). If you use all three, load Convenient Horses last (even after compatibility patches for iAFT and RDO). The only thing you'll lose from RDO by doing so is hostlers blocking services with poor relationships (also easy to patch if you have a bit of xEdit knowledge).
Inigo runs on his own custom follower system. He can be used alongside iAFT fine, however DO NOT try to get him to run on iAFT's system - it will break most of his features. The same applies for any other custom followers that use their own system - as a rule, you should not force them to use any other follower management system to avoid breaking their functionality, whether it be iAFT, AFT, EFF, or others.
Relationship Dialogue Overhaul has fairly extensive conflicts. A patch is available on RDO's page. Please ensure you download the iAFT patch, NOT the AFT patch, to avoid breaking your game. Also give cloudedtruth your thanks and kudos for the patch!
No More Standing Too Close is compatible if loaded after iAFT.
USSEP is not required, but highly recommended.
COMBINING PATCHES
If you want to use the 3DNPC patch but don't want extra .esp files in your load order, open them up in TESVEdit and copy their contents as overrides into AmazingFollowerTweaks.esp. You can then delete the patch .esp file (but keep the loose files included in the downloads).
