Why?:
The Fork Mod is a very simple mod I made for a personal challenge playthrough. I made it because other mods that modify the fork basically change it into an iron dagger that looks like a fork, which I did not want personally.
Bethesda put two fork items in Skyrim because it just works
The Fork Mod ONLY modifies the fork weapon item. There is also a fork clutter item that is not usable as a weapon. That item is NOT modified by this mod to reduce any chance of this mod breaking the game. They basically look identical but one is a weapon, one is not. Some forks are simply not worthy to be used as weapons I guess. Praise Todd
What The Fork Mod does:
1) Adds the "WeapMaterialIron" keyword to the Fork so that it's listed as an iron weapon
2) Adds the "WeapTypeDagger" keyword to the Fork so that it is affected by perks that affect daggers (e.g. Assassin's Blade)
3) Adds a tempering recipe for the fork so that it can be tempered at a grindstone with an iron ingot
The fork's other base qualities remain the same. No extra damage. No extra critical damage. You can still enchant the fork.
You get the pure fork experience, but with the ability to temper it.
How to install:
Have Vortex or your favorite mod manager do it for you. In Vortex, go to your plugins list and click "Mark as light" if you need this to function like an ESL. (if you have no idea what that means or why someone would want that, ignore this)
How to find the fork:
To find the fork in-game, check out the locations on UESPWiki: Fork (uesp.net)
Or open your console and type (without quotes) "player.additem 1f25b X" replacing X with the number of forks you want.
Compatibility:
Obviously, this won't be compatible with any other mods that modify the fork. You could try loading this mod after those, I guess.
Honestly, if this mod is incompatible with major mods I would be genuinely shocked.
Umm I keep teleporting when I load the game???:
There's a nasty bug in vanilla Skyrim. When you load the game with a fork equipped, and there is a clutter fork in the same cell, it will put you on top of it, for some bizarre reason. This seems to continue even if you take the fork.
Sometimes enchanting your fork fixes this. Sometimes it doesn't. It's really annoying and I spent hours looking into how to fix this, but nothing seems to work 100% effectively.
For what it's worth, it doesn't happen in places where there are no forks, like most outdoors areas.
