If you have ever reached the uncompressed save file size limit 128MB after applying the patch from SSE Engine Fixes like me, perhaps you could give this a try. The limit is increased to 512MB. Remember setting SaveGameMaxSize to false in EngineFixes.toml.

The code is taken from SSE Engine Fixes, therefore if you want to show appreciation, please go to their page at SSE Engine Fixes (skse64 plugin).
Although CommonLibSSE NG supports Skyrim SE, AE, GOG, and VR, since it is also mentioned that Hook IDs and offsets must still be found manually for each version, this may not work for you if you are not on AE 1170. However, the offsets are only changed once by the author of SSE Engine Fixes when they updated the code for AE on version 6.0.0, so theoretically it works for all AE versions.
I have found all ID's and offsets for SE, AE and VR, so now it theoretically works for all game versions.
You may try Savegame Maxsize Plus SKSE if you are on 1.5.97, actually Citachi's work inspired me so I'd like to say thanks to them.
As for installation, this is a simple SKSE plugin so nothing special.
