Craft your own low-quality shiv, or learn to make a better shiv by completing a certain quest.

I made a mod called The Fork Mod for a challenge playthrough, then quickly realized how buggy the fork weapon actually is in Skyrim. Even unmodded, having the fork equipped can make it so that you can save the game, reload, and be in a different position than when you saved. It's pretty weird when you save at the entrance to the Ratway, and reload and find yourself in the room with the lowlife before the Ragged Flagon!
Requirements:
- Hearthfire DLC
What does The Shiv Mod do?:
1) Adds a weapon called "Low-Quality Shiv", a 1-damage Shiv that can be crafted with a Nail (from Hearthfire) and a Leather Strip at a forge or anvil. It can also be tempered at a grindstone with a Nail.
2) If you've completed the quest "No One Escapes Cidhna Mine", you unlock the ability to craft and temper the base-game shiv, which does 5 damage. The recipe is the same as above. Consider it an extra reward for your mastery of the shiv.
3) The base-game shiv was given the keyword for iron weapons, but otherwise wasn't altered.
How to install:
Manually unzip to your data folder, or let a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 do it for you.
If you need this to function like an ESL, click "Mark as light" in the Vortex plugins list. (If you don't know what that means, ignore this)
Compatibility:
It should be compatible with any mod that doesn't modify the shiv.
The Unofficial Skyrim Patch adds a temper recipe for the shiv, so you may see two recipes at the grindstone after you complete the Cidhna Mine quest. This is fine, just pick which recipe you like better.
Have fun!
