Moschops are plant-eating mammal-like reptiles. Initially, these variants of Moschops hailed from Morrowind. When the Red Mountain erupted, nearly all the Moschops were wiped out, save for a few egg clutches carried away safely by an unnamed Dunmer heading to Raven Rock on a ship. The ship sank before it could reach Solstheim along with the unnamed Dunmer. Luckily for the onboard egg clutches, they hatched, and the hatchlings made it off the ship just as it sank. The hatchlings swam the last few miles to make it to Solstheim. The original hatchlings that arrived in Solstheim gave rise to populations of Moschops, which we see today in Solstheim.

One of the few key traits that makes these creatures 'mammal-like' is their ability to maintain a constant body temperature. Their dark scales also allow them to absorb more heat, helping them adapt to their new conditions in Solstheim overall.

Generally, they're peaceful unless an attack provokes them. The reddish/orange ones are the bulls of these creatures and will attack if you get too close to them. It's best advised to steer clear of them as they range around the size of a large bear.
