This is a port of taro8's mod for the original Skyrim with some fixes. Please read their original description.
The file that adds silence to vanilla tracks overwrote music from the DLC - Dawnguard, specifically, which I patched in xEdit so now nothing is being overwritten and you get the silence you want.The base is an .esm file and I don't know how to convert that to form 43, but there shouldn't be an issue (being form 43 in itself is not the cause of save corruption).
The download includes the base .esm and all optional .esps. Just delete the ones you don't want. If there is a demand for a merged version I'll make one.
UPDATE: I finally got round to converting the .esm to form 44. All files are now in form 44.
