This mod adds over 8000 hand placed trees to Skyrim, enhancing your game with thicker forested areas.
General Information:
Patches are available for Skyrim Flora overhaul and Realistic Aspen Trees for those that do not use DynDOLOD or SSELODGen
DNF is compatible with other tree mods that change vanilla trees, via DynDOLOD or SSELODGen. Install and load mods that change vanilla trees after DNF.
the following mods are compatible via DynDOLOD or SSELODGen:
- Skyrim Flora Overhaul
- Dark Fantasy Overhaul
- Enhanced Vanilla Trees
- Whiterun Forest Borealis (DNF does not add trees to the Whiterun tundra, except near Rorikstead/Reach border)\
- Realistic Aspen Trees and another other aspen tree mod
- Winter Overhaul 2019
- any retexture mod for vanilla trees
- any Bigger Tree mod (as long as billboards are provided)
- All Solstheim mods are out of box compatible as DNF does not add trees there
DNF is compatible with Enhanced Vanilla Trees. Use the 3D LODs provided with EVT or other source
This mod was created using only the creation kit and only vanilla assets were used
Mods that add more trees to Skyrim will not be compatible in general, as there may be overlapping trees
the following mods are not compatible and will have overlapping trees
- Dark Forests of Skyrim (DNF was created using this mod so it is 100% NOT compatible)
- Enhanced Landscapes
- Trees Addon
- Spring Forest overhaul
- Tamriel Reloaded
Performance Impact:
- performance impact will depend greatly on your hardware, video card etc. This mod was tested with an i7, 2080 RTX and ENB, with little to no FPS loss.
- using high res textures for trees and barks will result in FPS loss with added tree density.
Installation and Load Order:
Install mod as is for vanilla skyrim with no other tree mods. Loose files are terrain LOD for trees

Install the patch after install this mod and any combination of the others. The patch should be added last in every case.
DynDOLOD and SSELODGen users only need to install the .esp file, loose files are not needed as you be generating new ones with either aforementioned program
DNF should be higher in the load order, above other tree mods.
** to make this mod compatible with other tree mods, you need to install the other mod as well as Skyrim vanilla billboards. Then run LOD gen program for Trees
