About this mod

Brew yourself a nice hot cup of tea to warm-up after a hard day exploring Skyrim's snowy shores! From a nice, plain herbal tea to more exotic brews featuring taproots or moon sugar, it's time for your Dovahkiin to settle down with a hot kettle and a hearty sigh of contentment. Now with SURVIVAL features! (ESL-flagged)

Changelogs
This mod adds several varieties of tea that can be crafted at the cookpot. Of course there is no genuine tea plant in Skyrim, but I did my best to come up with logical recipes based on the existing ingredients. There are four available versions of this mod:

  • The Vanilla Version introduces recipes for basic teas that you can make with ordinary ingredients found throughout Skyrim.
  • The Skywater Only Version that duplicates the vanilla recipes but adds a water requirement thanks to 7StarC's lovely Skywater_Survival mod.
  • The Skywater Extended Version that adds both water and additional recipes using ingredients found in Dracula420's fantastic More Growable Plants SE!
  • The Drinking Fountains Extended Version that duplicates the recipes of the aforementioned mod but swaps the water dependency to the bottles obtained from mannygt's brilliant Drinking Fountains of Skyrim mod.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Major credit must go to the illustrious Stroti, whose Kitchen Tools for Skyrim was the source of the teapot used in this mod; thanks also to Tamira who converted that resource to SE and thus spared me what I'm sure would have been hours of frustration learning how to do that on my own.

If you think these teas are overpowered or underpowered or should otherwise have their effects adjusted...well, you might be right! (Although keep in mind that you're brewing an entire pot instead of a single cup, so it should have some staying power...) Any such suggestions will be seriously considered -- although note that I'm trying to keep this geared toward a relatively vanilla game. Patches for your favorite mods and individual set-ups are more than welcome, though!

Compatibility & Requirements:
  • It should be compatible with just about everything, although it may need patches for balance if you have any major cooking overhaul mods.
  • If you download the Skywater Only File, you will need Skywater_Survival for the crucial ingredient (e.g. the water!) needed to craft each tea.
  • If you download the Skywater Extended File, you will need both Skywater_Survival and More Growable Plants SE.
  • If you download the Drinking Fountains Extended File, you will need both Drinking Fountains of Skyrim and More Growable Plants SE.
  • The Vanilla File has no mod dependencies. It is identical to the Skywater Only version in all ways except for the inclusion of water as one of the required ingredients.

SURVIVAL UPDATE: Since Bethesda has added survival as a free update for everyone, I have now incorporated that feature, so your tea will confer warmth bonuses as well as their various individual effects. Note again that since you are making an entire pot of tea, the warmth bonus has been set to last a little longer than a bowl of soup. I don't personally play with survival enabled, so if you think the numbers on these effects need changed, please offer your suggestions for better balancing — or as always, you can make your own adjustment patch(es).

Permissions:
Patches are great, I love patches! Go ahead and toss up a patch to add support for Frostfall or iNeeds or any other sort of food and cooking overhaul you have going, no need to ask me first. Want to port it to LE? Go for it! Just remember to include proper...

Recommended Files:

You're going to need honey to brew these teas and the vanilla game doesn't offer it in generous amounts. The above mods will help increase availability.

Future Plans:
  • Figure out a way to "return" the empty bucket to your inventory after "emptying" the water for your tea (skywater file).
  • Figure out a way to add the "rested bonus" to tea made with Pure Water instead of regular water from a bucket (skywater file).

If anyone has suggestions or tutorial links to help me out with the above, please don't hesitate to share! Thank you!
