Comes with optional integration for Campfire
There is a LITE version of the mod, that doesn't require SKSE.
Great for everyone who uses a survival mod and is annoyed of finding a wood chopping block everytime you need some wood.
There are other options for getting firewood from trees:
- Frostfall has it built in AFAIK; but I'm using Hypothermia, and they are not compatible
- Camping Lite has an option; but it uses a spell, which I don't find very immersive
- Woodcutter is all about cutting wood; but it's too much addition for my taste
Features
- Hit any tree in skyrim with a wood cutter's axe to drop firewood
- All tree types of the base game and DLCs are supported
- All axes defined as woodcutter's axe should be supported
- Stores a list of recently chopped trees, that won't give you wood
- Resets trees every 3 days
- Does nothing if you don't have a woodcutter's axe readied, so quite low on resources in normal game (SKSE version of mod)
Lite Mod
The Lite mod doesn't require SKSE. However, it does some polling to compensate that. It might be a bit take some time before detecting that a tree was hit.
However, the mod's basic features are identical (including Campfire integration)

Campfire integration
Version 2 now comes with an optional integration for Campfire. I tested it with Campfire 1.12.1 and 1.11, but might work with earlier versions
Features:
- Randomly drops firewood, deadwood, branches or kindles (40%, 30%, 20%, and 10% probability)
- Stone Hatchet supported for harvesting trees
- Resourceful Perk adds chance to drop 2 resources (25% or 50% for ranks 1 and 2)

Patching
The mod could easily be patched, but since it's an ESL, that won't work AFAIK. I'm thinking of making a Patchable ESP Version to make patches possible, e.g. for adding trees from Bruma.
However, if you know what you do, you can use SSEEdit and modify the mod. There are FormLists for trees and dropped resources, and in Campfire version for axes (plain version uses default woodChoppingAxes FormList).
The drop-probabilities are a property in the tree manager quest. In SKSE version it's a comma-separated list of probabilities that are aligned with the KN_CT_DroppedWoodList FormList. In Lite version, you can specify the probabilities for the first 4 entries, others are treated as 1. This are relative frequencies, so for example 6,3,2 would be 6/(6+3+2)=55%, 3/(6+3+2)=27% and 2/(6+3+2)=18%
