While I was at it I just flagged the puppies' mum as protected too, so they won't risk becoming orphans.
If you have SkyTEST, you've seen three dog puppies behind the stables in Riften -- or maybe you haven't, it took me one year to realize that they existed. The poor sods are just stuck in place, with nothing to do 24/7. This simply allows them to run around a little and look more lively.
