Changelogs
Version 1.02
Fixed bug which prevented the Black Star from accepting black souls.
The Black Star may now also be named.
Version 1.01
Base-game soul trap mechanics modified to produce named gems when killing unique NPCs.
A cosmetic modification to the Soul Trap mechanic. When you kill a unique NPC and trap their soul, the soul gem gets marked in your inventory with the name of your victim. The soul gems otherwise behave as normal, but you can now collect your kills if you so desire.
Supports both Black Soul Gems and the Black Star.
Monsters, animals, and generic NPCs such as hold guards and bandits are not affected.
No additional spells are required, as these gems are produced via the pre-existing Soul Trap spells and enchantments.
See Named Souls in Gems for an older mod that does much the same thing (I wasn't aware of its existence before). Check it out as it has different features, and may also work in some cases where this mod has compatibility issues.
Compatibility:
Named soul gems are equivalent to regular filled soul gems, so this mod is compatible with enchantment mods, and quests which make use of filled soul gems (e.g. Rising At Dawn).
All soul-trapping magic effects in the base game are modified, so this mod is not compatible with other mods which modify the behaviour of these spells. Not compatible with Acquisitive Soul Gems.
Soul-trapping spells/enchantments in DLC and other mods may or may not gain the gem-naming effect as well, depending on if they use custom magic effects or not.
