Lots of people (me included) have reported that Skyrim’s audio on Windows is far too quiet overall and that some effects like Unrelenting Force are way too loud.
This fix uses a virtual audio cable to route Windows audio through a VST audio effect to increase (and / or limit) its volume. It makes a huge difference to immersion to clearly hear all the sound effects in the game and it can be played without headphones.
The download is a pdf of the tutorial. It's really quick and easy and all the tools needed are free.
