Now, you might have a few questions:
Who the hell is Melvin?
Well, I'm glad you asked!
Melvin Souls is an original character created by me in The Sims 4. He is a part of the Melvin Cinematic Universe, and has been in numerous games, (of course, unofficially via mods.. but maybe we'll get him into Smash?) ranging from Devil May Cry 5, VRChat, and even ROBLOX!
My end goal is to put Melvin into every single game in existence; at least, within reason. Some games simply can't be modded.
And now that I have the knowledge of how to mod Skyrim... I will take that knowledge and put Melvin into the Fallout Series as well! *evil laugh*
But, jests and other such ridiculousness aside, before you download this mod, there are a few things you should know:
This follower is still a WIP. This is also my first follower mod, so bear with me!
Obviously, as he is a WIP this version is not technically "feature complete". There may be things that are changed/removed.
Also, if you get the grey/dark face bug, let me know! That would help a lot.
I think I fixed it by including the FaceGen files (CTRL + F4 in the creation kit) but I'm not entirely sure.
So, if you get any bugs in general, or have any features you'd like to see me add to this mod, let me know!
As of right now, AFT does not play nicely with Melvin. Since Melvin Souls was created as a follower by following Joseph Russel's "How to Make a Follower Mod Like Lucien Flavius" tutorial series, this means Melvin runs on his own custom framework. I have AFT installed and what you will experience is this: You will have two of each dialogue option. Two "I'd like to trade", two "Do something for me", two "Sing me a song and then launch a nuclear missile at Solitude", you get the idea. Keep that in mind; the AFT dialogue options are not voiced, only the "vanilla/custom framework" dialogue options are.
Moving onto voice, Melvin has a variety of lines. He will yell in combat while swinging his sword, grunt while taking damage, and has unique voice lines for being put into the "bleed-out/downed" animation. He does not have voice lines for being healed yet: that is planned.
There also seems to be an issue where when I put two dialogue variations for his "Follow me" they are both played in succession. I will look into this and the next update will (hopefully?) fix that.
In Melvin's inventory, which you most likely will not be able to access unless you use AFT to open his inventory: you can find his clothes, and his unique ebony dagger: "Melvin's Dagger of Vampiric Absorption), as well as his Ebony Warhammer: "Soultrapper". Melvin also comes equipped with an ebony bow titled "Melvin's Searing Bow." Please do not take these weapons from Melvin, it is not nice to steal. D:
Melvin is marked as essential. If anyone wishes, I can upload a version of the mod where he is not essential. In fact, when this mod is done I must just unset him as essential myself: we'll see on that, I suppose.
Regarding SkyrimVR, he *may* be compatible with it. I briefly tested the mod, but the greyface bug was appearing and his dialogue was a bit weird. I'm not entirely sure why this is, maybe someone can test him in SkyrimVR further if they wish. For now, I will not mark the mod as SkyrimVR compatible until I have a definite answer on that matter.
All the technical stuff out of the way, you can find Melvin enjoying a drink or two at the Bannered Mare tavern in Whiterun.
And, one last warning: This mod is, again, a work in progress. Some things might not work right, Melvin might not appear at the tavern for some reason..
However, if this happens try reloading your save, or waiting a couple of hours in-game. That should fix it!
Anyways, thanks for reading all this nonsense. Have a good one, and enjoy the mod!
(Please read the readmes located in the files. I put a lot of effort into them ;-;)
