This is a rebalanced and updated version of Specs Weedle's excellent Daggerfall Traits mod for Skyrim LE, which allows you to choose interesting Daggerfall-style advantages and disadvantages during character creation. Thankfully, Specs Weedle's mod had open permissions, so here we are.

At character creation, you are given a note titled "Medical History". Clicking on it at any time will allow you to choose your traits -- note that you can't respec, so choose wisely!

To balance these new options, you can choose at most five traits, and you are bound by a "point-buy system". That is, each advantage will subtract from your point total, each disadvantage will add to your point total, and your final point total must be positive.

The traits are as follows:

Advantages:
  • Adrenaline Rush, 5 pts: attack and damage resist boost at low health
  • Athleticism, 4 pts: +50 stamina
  • Bonus against animals/daedra/humans/undead, 2/2/4/3 pts: do more damage to these enemies
  • Expertise in weapon type, 2 pts (unarmed) or 4 pts (other)
  • Resistance to element/disease/poison/magic, 6/4/4/10 pts: 50% resistance
  • High tolerance to element/disease/poison/magic, 3/2/2/5 pts: 25% resistance
  • Rapid healing in dark/light/water/always, 5/5/2/8 pts
  • Spell absorb in dark/light/general, 10/10/15 pts: spell absorb when below full Magicka. Spells that fail to absorb cause massive damage.
  • True spell absorb, 25 pts: 100% spell absorption, always
  • Wisdom, 2/4/8 pts: +10/25/50 Magicka

Disadvantages:
  • Gradual damage in strong light/holy places, 15/5 pts
  • Dark Magic, 3/6 pts: weakened/no magic in light
  • Forbidden weapon type, 1 pt (unarmed) or 2 pts (other)
  • Light Magic, 3/6 pts: weakened/no magic in darkness
  • Low tolerance to element/disease/poison/magic, 2/1/1/3 pts: 50% weakness
  • Phobia of animals/daedra/humans/undead, 2/2/5/3 pts: take more damage from, and do less damage to, these enemies
  • Stunted Magicka, 6 pts: no Magicka regeneration
  • Critical weakness to element/disease/poison/magic, 3/2/2/5 pts
  • Forbidden material, 1 pt

Changes from the LE version:
The primary change from Specs Weedle's original release is the balance of the various traits. The LE version suffered from the same "exploits" that Daggerfall itself did -- namely, it was too easy to get massive bonuses by taking massive-but-specific hits to combat styles you would never use. For instance, a character could achieve True Spell Absorption by taking every "Forbidden Material" disadvantage, which would make you a nigh-unstoppable wizard. Alternatively, by taking Light Magic, Dark Magic, and Stunted Magicka, a character could take nearly every single non-magical advantage available.

Special attention was paid to these sorts of exploits in my fork of the mod. You get a maximum of 5 traits now, which (a) cleans up the menu a bit and (b) prevents ridiculous min-maxing from taking place. Also, every single trait was rebalanced, based on extensive playtesting -- "Immunity" has been replaced with "Strong Resistance", Athleticism and Wisdom have both been toned down, and point values were reassigned from scratch. To achieve True Spell Absorption, for instance, you now need to take several crippling disadvantages.

Also, your traits are now visible in the Active Effects menu.

I'd like to thank Specs Weedle for writing the original -- his mod is excellent, and if you want a more true-to-Daggerfall experience, I recommend using the port available here. Secondly, I'd like to thank Oracus0 for porting the mod to SE originally. If you haven't seen it, I recommend you check out his mod Skygerfall (also here).
