This mod adds 3 or more dawnguard soldiers to each capital city in Skyrim.. They will defend each city from dragon, vampire, and bandit attacks. And will aid you in combat if your Dawnguard. They guard the entrances to the cites and they guard the Jarls. They are all unique and wont respawn after death, but they are marked as "protected" meaning only the player can kill them.
With the recent update, the Dawnguards, most anyways, had their names changed. They also have been given voices to allow guard dialogue, as well as being put into appropriate guard factions to allow for them to commit an arrest on the player. Although, more often then not, they will allow the nearby guards to arrest the player instead. Some Dawnguards have had their AI Packages fiddled with, and some have new spots as well. As a final immersive tweak, it may be possible to find their appropriate burial urns/coffins in the local Hall of The Dead, should they be killed and if the town they guard has one.
