It was unseemly hot in the chamber, with maidens and viziers and emissaries and animals asleep or even dead on its tiles or in cool corners, and risen things waved insect wings as fans, stirring the scents of moth-clouds down in a dust that clung to skins and sometimes changed them.
The Dibellan Baths
Introduction:
A fairly simple addition to Markarth. This mod adds a new location under the Temple of Dibella: a private bathhouse used by the devotees of the Temple. Originally made as a simple screenshot location where I could have complete control over lighting, it turned into something fully integrated into the world. Also adds a new book, the Shonni-Etta Excerpts (written by Michael Kirkbride), as well as a new Shrine of the Sibyl.
Important Features:
The new location is integrated in the following manner:
1. The priestesses (minus Hamal and Fjotra) will go to the baths every day at 7pm and spend 3 hours relaxing, before returning to whatever they were doing before. Orla and Anwen will not start going to the baths until they finish communing with Dibella (ergo, whenever you interrupt the ritual in the Inner Sanctum).
2. A new priestess, Anthea, takes care of the baths from the morning until 7pm, when she joins the others in relaxation. On weekdays, she goes to the market at 10am and returns to the baths after an hour or so. She has no unique dialogue, but this may change in a future update.
3. A couple keys have been added to the Inner Sanctum (which also grant access to the baths) which count as stealing until you finish the quest.
Additional details:
It is not a player home, however the priestesses will not mind your presence in the baths regardless of whether you have completed the Heart of Dibella; that is to say, the cell is not off-limits.
There is also a scripted triggerbox in the baths that unequips all items from any Temple of Dibella NPC that enters the water area, and re-equips their outfits whenever they leave. It does not affect followers or the player, or any other NPCs.
FAQ
Q: I use Bijin mods. Is this compatible?
A: Yes, this mod injects the new AI packages through a hidden quest, without actually editing any NPC records. So any appearance replacer should be compatible without need of a patch.
Q: I installed this mod, now I can't find Senna in the temple!
A: She's probably relaxing in the baths. Go there, or just wait until after 10pm, which is when she leaves the baths and returns to the temple.
Q: I use a bathing or needs mod, but it doesn't recognise the water in the baths.
A: Dibellan Baths is natively compatible with all bathing and needs mods. If you cannot bathe there, it means that essential water edits made by your bathing mod are being overwritten by some other mod. You need to fix your broken setup with this or this patcher, as per the instructions on the description page of your bathing/needs mod. Or ask the mod author to start using the po3 script extender.
Q: The priestess(es) are just hanging around outside the door to the baths, and not going in!
A: You probably stole their keys, you dirty pickpocket! Reverse pickpocket the Inner Sanctum key onto them in case they can't get in, or click them in the console and type:
additem 000656ee 1
Compatibility:
Starting in version 1.1, this mod is compatible with basically everything.
But just to be sure...
100% compatible, no patch needed:
- JK's Skyrim (JK's Markarth)
- JK's Temple of Dibella
- Sky City - Markarth Rising
- Holds - The City Overhaul
- Dawn of Skyrim
- The People of Skyrim Complete
- AI Overhaul (load before Dibellan Baths)
- New Dibella Statues
- Any appearance replacers
- USSEP
- Any bathing/needs mod
- Sybil -Defiled Vessel SSE-
- Open Cities (I don't think I will ever make a patch for it, but I don't mind anyone else doing so. It's probably just a matter of moving the door teleport reference into the main Tamriel worldspace where the open version of Markarth would be)
Installation:
Install as per usual, I recommend MO2.
