- Download the correct mod for your needs (As described below) and the required mod
- IMPORTANT: Speak to Maramel in Riften's temple about the temple and then marriage (The game checks for this before allowing marriage)
- Wear an Amulet of Mara (Purchasable from Maramel after talking to him)
- Speak to an NPC you want to marry (Must have a positive relationship with the player in the case of using the Friends version of the mod)
Excepting for the first step, the steps above are completely vanilla marriage instructions, these are here so people not familiar with or who have forgotten the marriage requirements can have a quick and simple guide to follow.
Description
This mod lets the player marry almost any NPC in the game, including NPCs other than humanoids since they work the same as npcs in this matter. There's two versions of this mod available for download.
- Marry Anyone - Everyone: Lets you marry any NPC, regardless of previous relations. Just speak to Maramal and wear an amulet of Mara, and you can just talk to any NPC you want to marry. Just know that if you weren't friends with them before, you will be after you ask if they're interested.
- Marry Anyone - Friends: Lets you marry any NPC you have a good relationship with. This can be from doing quests for them, or whatever else, as long as you're friends with them. Just speak to Maramal and wear an amulet of Mara, and you can just talk to any NPC you want to marry that you're friends with.
That's really it, it's pretty simple, just mind to install the required mod as well. Oh, and don't try to marry Maramel, that doesn't go very well...
Troubleshooting
Please check these things before leaving a comment/making a bug report if you're having trouble with the mod:
- Have you spoken to Maramel about marriage? This is required to marry any NPC, even in the vanilla game.
- Are you wearing an amulet of Mara while speaking to the NPC you're trying to marry?
- If you're using the Friends version of this mod instead of the Everyone version of this mod, are you friends with the NPC you want to marry? You can tell based on if they give friendly lines to you. The usual way to become friends with an NPC is by doing a quest for them, although there are others. If you want to tell for sure if they're friends with you, use '~' to open the console, click on the NPC, and type 'getrelationshiprank player'. If after pressing enter you get a value greater than 0, they're friends with you.
- Do you have any mods which modify marriage in some way? If so, they may not be compatible with this mod.
Additional Notes
- This mod does not require you to start a new character, it can be used with pre-existing saves.
- Not all NPCs that can now be married with this mod will have voiced lines, but some will. To check if they will, look up the NPC's voice type, then compare it to the voice types of marriable NPCs on the UESP Marriage wiki page. If there are any marriable NPCs who share a voice type with the NPC you want to marry, then they will be voiced. Otherwise they will not as marriage lines for those NPCs don't exist
- While this mod is untested with npcs added by other mods, it should still function in regards to marrying them.
- Selecting to live at a spouses house will have limited success, as most NPCs don't have listed houses. This will result in your spouse disappearing permanently and you being stuck with an unmarked quest to visit their house.
- The two versions of this mod may have issues if both are downloaded at the same time due to overwriting each other's scripts. I'm not sure if this is an issue or if nexus will properly handle swapping out the scripts when mods are switched, but do be aware of the possibility. If this is an issue, it should show up as Marry Anyone - Everyone not letting you go through all the way with marrying NPCs you aren't friends with.
- This mod was originally made as a bit of a joke, but I'm happy to see how much use it's been getting. But, please remember to not take the mod too seriously if you don't want to. Sometimes a mod can just be installed to be silly.
- While this mod does let you marry almost anyone you can enter dialogue with, there are a couple things in the game called talk activators which, while they look like npc dialogue, are not recognized in the game so they can't be married, such as the black door, the augur of dunlain, and a number of the daedric princes.
