Features
This mod adds three new Shouts that will call Durnehviir ("Ride Durnehviir"), Odahviing ("Ride Odahviing"), or a Levelled dragon ("Ride Dragon"), and directly make them land for riding.
The shouts will become available to you once your character is meeting the following conditions:
- "Ride Durnehviir" requires "Summon Durnehviir", and that Durnehviir has taught the player all three Words of the "Soul Tear" shout.
- "Ride Odahviing" requires "Call Dragon", and that you have talked to Odahviing on the Throat of the World at the end of the main quest line.
- "Ride Dragon" requires "Call Dragon" and having talked to Odahviing at the end of the main quest line. In addition "Bend Will" and "Dragonrend" are required for the corresponding Words of Power.
Whenever you learn the required base shout ("Call Dragon" / "Summon Durnehviir"), the corresponding "Ride" shout will be added automatically. You may need to "Wait" for an hour for the Shout to appear in your Shout list after you learned the base shout. In case the base shout is already known when the mod is added to the load order, the corresponding "Ride" shout will be added immediately.
If you want Odahviing as a follower, consider OD-AH-VIING. If I understand correctly there soon will also be a Durnehviir as-a-follower mod from the same author.
Installation
Add the package to your game via a mod manager (recommended), or manually place the files from the package into the Data folder of your Skyrim installation.
Requirements
- Recommended: Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch
Changelog V1.1.0
- "Ride Dragon" no longer calls a Legendary dragon, but a levelled dragon. With Legendary dragons, depending on the level of the character, it was quite likely that "The dragon resisted your voice", resulting in an enemy Legendary dragon attacking you right away....
- Dragons called via "Ride Dragon" are now removed from the game after they have flown away. Previously they were returning to the spot were they were called, thus potentially spamming Skyrim with new (Legendary!) dragons.
- When calling Odahviing, there was an issue with Odahviing sometimes re-appearing for some time, after he already flew away. Now Odahviing will not return unless you call him again with "Call Dragon" or "Ride Odahviing".
- The "Ride Durnehviir" shout will only become available after Durnehviir has taught all Words of the "Soul Tear" shout.
- In the previous version there were some potential issues by calling Odahviing and Durnehviir a second time while they were still around the player. This is addressed.
- It is recommended to remove v1.0.0 from your load order, then make a new save of your game, and then install v1.1.0 before proceeding your game with the new save and v1.1.0
Known Limitations (v1.1.0)
- It still is possible that "The dragon resists your voice", in particular if you use "Ride Dragon" too frequently. That's actually no limitation, but a feature of vanilla Skyrim. Waiting a bit before calling a dragon for riding again should minimize this risk.
Note
An earlier version of this mod has been provided as optional add-on in Intuitive Dragon Ride Control (SE).
