I always felt that the explosive bolts added by the Dawnguard DLC were not very interesting, specially considering how hard the ingredients to craft them can be hard to come by. Just a small bonus damage and a visual effect.
This mod aims to make these explosive bolts meaningful. Something that you can use to turn the tide of a hard battle. The idea is that they behave like a "special power".
Bolts can now be crafted at any forge and have no quest requirements (since I play with Craftable Crossbows and Bolts) and every recipe produces only 1 bolt (1 fire/frost/void salts for every bolt).
The bolts are:
- Exploding Dwarven Bolt of Fire - Explodes for 150 points of fire damage. - This is meant to be a "nuke" for tougher enemies and bosses.
- Exploding Dwarven Bolt of Ice - Explodes on contact, unleashing a localized blizzard for 10 seconds. - Use this on packs of enemies for area damage. It casts the Blizzard spell when it hits an enemy.
- Exploding Dwarven Bolt of Shock - Explodes for 50 points of shock damage to Health and half that to Magicka, and paralyzes the target for 5 seconds. - Meant as an utility tool with some damage added into it.
On my gameplay they feel somewhat balanced, but considering the amount of variables involved, it's hard to make sure they will be balanced on your game. You can always open the CK and tweak the numbers yourself if you want.
I've only added the Dwarven Bolts, and I don't intend to make the Steel version of these.
