Reworks Zephyr into a bow suitable for close quarters combat. For when a sneak shot doesn't cut it and you have to get close and personal.

Description:
Zephyr was okay at first but eventually becomes underwhelming after multiple playthroughs. I reworked its effects to make it even more unique and most effective as a close range bow. I plan on reworking its effects more as learn more complex modding so consider this a prototype.

Combat Archery: New Zephyr effect
50% less base damage
100% faster draw speed
25% critical chance
35% chance to absorb 20 points of stamina

As a workaround to the lack of critical chance enchantments I attached to Zephyr the keyword used by Valdr's Lucky Dagger to be affected by its associated perk so any changes to that perk will also reflect on Zephyr.


Recommendation:
I made this rework with TK Dodge in mind. An archer build doesn't normally have high health or resistances so dodging would be critical for survival when enemies close the distance and the absorb stamina effect is meant to allow sustained bow bashing and dodges for added survivability.

Compatibility patch for Zephyr Redone replacer now in optional files.


Incompatibilities:
Zephyr mesh replacers - Zephyr uses the same vanilla mesh as the Dwarven Bow and as such requires a separate plugin to modify its record and point it to a custom mesh and any changes to its effects must also be done on that same record. Therefore any mesh replacer mod for Zephyr will conflict with this mod. Which ever plugin you load last will take effect.

If you wish to use this with replacers you can modify this mod's plugin with SSEEdit. It requires basic knowledge in modding as in addition to changing the model value of the bow to the custom mesh directory you will also need to create a new Static record for the 1st person model of the bow.


Disclaimer:
I am a novice modder and this mod is a small project I made for practice. The effects may or may not be balanced for regular gameplay because the bow is very easily obtainable in early levels.


Future Plans?:
These were the initial ideas for this rework but as it turns out are currently beyond my skill as a modder.

Custom mesh replacer for Zephyr - I cannot wrap my head around rigging bow meshes in Blender.

Additional effects to bow bash - turns out its not so simple, too many failed attempts. The best way to do this is probably by using scripts.

This was the scrapped custom mesh I planned on using. The spiked guard wouldn't make sense until I figured out how to apply bleeding effect to bow bashes so decided not to use it. I couldn't rig a custom made mesh so I just modified the vanilla Dwarven Bow mesh. The miscellaneous attachments were removed and a dwarven scrap lined with arrowheads was attached to the front of the grip.
