Dynamic Animation Replacer's VR build was built with an older version of SKSE VR which had incorrect offsets for some virtual functions, including IsInCombat. This causes it to incorrectly call SetAlpha instead of IsInCombat which causes NPCs to go invisible when this condition is evaluated.
This dll patches DAR's dll to call the correct function for IsInCombat conditions, which makes DAR work as intended. No other action is needed other than installing this mod alongside DAR.
Because DAR's dll is being patched, If DAR's VR version ever gets an update, this mod will break, in the same way as if Skyrim VR were to get updated, any SKSE VR plugins will break. If it does get an update, hopefully it will be built with the latest SKSE VR version, which would also fix this issue.
