What shall live of mankind // when at last there comes // the mighty winter to men?- Poetic Edda, Ragnarök and the Fimbulwinter

Winter Unending utilizes the Seasons of Skyrim framework to bring on an endless winter in the final act of the main quest, as Alduin prepares to consume the world. Just like Old Atmora before it, Skyrim will be frozen in snow, no matter the time of year, until the World-Eater is defeated. Based on both Elder Scrolls lore and the Norse myths of the Fimbulwinter, this immersion tweak should set an ominous stage for the final hours of the main quest. The permanent winter will begin after completing Alduin's Bane and will persist until after completing Dragonslayer and returning to Nirn.
This mod is very minimal; there is no plugin or assets, only a handful of tweaked main quest topic scripts to call the season override. It should be compatible with very nearly everything, but may behave unexpectedly if you have another mod that manually forces seasonal changes using the Seasons of Skyrim framework. Unlike the eventual Extended Cut version of this feature, it does not include custom weather, dialogue, or other features; it is simply a tweak to allow Seasons of Skyrim to force a permanent winter season for the end of the vanilla main quest.
Seasons of Skyrim SKSE is required. Turn of the Seasons is also strongly recommended.
