Adapts NordwarUA's Guard Armor Replacer to use SPID. Optionally built to be used alongside RMB SPIDified - Sons of Skyrim, this patch can also be used independently. Highly customisable and compatible, with addition fixes and tweaks.
Optional - if you are using the Sons of Skyrim + Guard Armor Replacer patch

Added FOMOD option, with default value "No", to remove vanilla sets from the distribution pools
Fixed FOMOD / SkyPatcher options for always vs no helmets, as values were inverted
Version 6.3.4
Fix for overlapping filenames causing a conflict with Sons of Skyrim - issue would have caused naked guards in rural areas. Thanks to MasterJingYan for creating a report with screenshots!
Version 6.3.3
Additional distribution hotfixes
Version 6.3.2
Stormcloak distribution fix (still wasn't quite right)
Version 6.3.1
Fix for Stormcloak distribution, was using old ESP/formIDs
Version 6.3.0
Update for RMB SPID - Core 6.0.0. Adjusted distribution somewhat to try and tackle edge-case issues whose root cause are yet undetermined.
ESP file/s now rely on the new RMB SPID - Core Definitions master ESL/ESM flagged ESP file.
Some additional options.
Version 6.2.0
Another restructure of FOMOD, improving selections to avoid cases wherein files are not installed as expected
Possibly solved some instances of naked NPCs that I was able to replicate. This was due to files being installed that should not have been installed. Oops!
Other minor bug fixes and tweaks
Version 6.1.0
Removed some broken armor items (unused/previously undistributed)
Adjusted some names and classifications of gear, such as Stormcloak round shields going from heavy -> light
Adjusted EDID values for several items/objects, where it makes sense
Introduced cloak/cape LLIs, which are now part of the guard sets - these LLIs can be injected to via SkyPatcher
Version 6.0.0
Reworked distribution to use shared outfits from RMB SPID - Core Guard Outfits. These outfits are injected to via SkyPatcher, which is now a hard requirement.
Now compatible out of the box with RMB SPIDified - Sons of Skyrim
Version 5.0.0
Big update!
ESLified the original ESP and trimmed it further, fixed some errors and inconsistencies. FormIDs changed across the board due to this. Original mod still required for meshes/textures.
Reworked SPID and SkyPatcher configs. Fixed some inconsistencies with distribution, including edges cases wherein certain sets did not distribute.
Added new SkyPatcher option for distributing some of the GAR Stormcloak weapons.
Lot of internal changes in the ESPs. Many new outfits and leveled lists, including leveled list "sets" for use in other leveled lists or outfits.
Version 4.4.6
RMB SPID - Guards Armor Replacer.esp: Fixed double heavy shield distributed as part of the Wildhelm Heavy set
RMB SPID - Guards Armor Replacer.esp: Added missing heavy gauntlets for the Windhelm Heavy Set
RMB SPID - Guards Armor Replacer.esp: Added missing heavy gauntlets for the Windhelm Heavy - No Shield Set
Version 4.4.3
Missing shared file added - if you weren't using a combined patch or SoS, then distribution would not have occurred (was in the archive, just not pushed by the FOMOD).
Adjusted keyword assignments for a number of armour pieces
Solitude Heavy set now uses SteelPlate keywords and stats, differing from the "light" version (half plate)
Reclassified some of the Stormcloak armours as light from heavy, where it makes sense visually, and adjusted stats to reflect the new assignments
Fixed FOMOD option "Where to distribute the armours" wording to accurately reflect what the option does
Added FOMOD option "Vanill armour distribution" under extra options, which deploys a config for distributing (2% chance default) vanilla armours
Version 4.4.1
Tweaks/changes to recipe module.
Version 4.4.0
Distribution reworked to utilize outfit keywords, for improved cross-mod support. Tested with a variety of town, city and settlement mods with better results.
Introduced Shield, No-Shield, No Helmet and No Helmet + No Shield Outfit variations for all Guard Armours, and distributed them accordingly
Improved overall format of configs files for better readability!
New FOMOD option: Anywhere, or just in citites (overwitten by my Misc Patches if you use GAR with Sons of Skyrim)
New FOMOD option: Choose to distribute to Stormcloaks (or not), in case you're looking just for replacing Guards
New FOMOD option: Recipes. Introduces crafting recipes for all Sons of Skyrim Armours and weapons. Misc patch hub has a C.O.C.K.S patch now too.
Other minor changes I've likely forgotten...
Version 4.3.6
Fix for Riften outfit distribution, reported by SpeccyBam
Stormcloak helmetless outfits now distributed to Stormcloaks with the "outfitHasNoHelmet" keyword
Version 4.3.5
isExcludedGAR added for keywords outfitImperialLight, outfitImperialStudded and outfitImperialLightMixed
As a result, edge cases (such as Imperial Soldiers stationed in Solitude) should no longer be forced to wear Solitude guard armour
Version 4.3.4
Removed broken GAR Stormcloak Leather boots, which are broken in the original mod (appears to be suspect nifs) to resolve risk of invisible feet.
Version 4.3.2
All armour sets now correctly reference "RMB_SublistFurCloaks66" rather than "RMB_SublistFurCloaks" >> Guards will now only have a 33% chance of having the mantles. This also means if you are using the no cloaks optional, they should no longer have the mantles as expected.
Cleaned the original mod ESP of USSEP requirement
rmb_a_guard_armor_replacer_DISTR.ini: Added missing isFactionGuardWindhelm & isFactionGuardTownMinorEastmarch distribution
Version 4.3.0
Added new FOMOD option - Always Wear Helmets. Will force Guards and Stormcloaks wearing the GAR outfits to always wear helmets. Boo to randomness.
Added new FOMOD option - No Fur Mantles / Capes. The cloaks added by GAR will no longer be worn/added to outfits (sets chance none to 100)
Most outfits reconstructed to use LLIs rather than direct additions to the outfits. Something something CID support down the road.
Many new outfits have been added, including missing GAR outfits (Stormcloak Light, Heavy, Officer and Riften to note)
Minor bug fixes with incorrect meshes for a couple of cuirasses, appeared to stem from GAR and affected undistributed armour.
More name changes/fixes, reformat of EDIDs
Standardized how the data is set up across the board, to better match my newer plugins
Version 4.2.0
Keyword Addition: isOutfitVariation3 introduced, which controls distribution of Heavy OR Light variations of the outfit for more consistent (and controllable) results
Keyword Distribution Change: isOutfitVariation2 now uses chance, default 50%. If it isn't distributed, then isOutfitVariation 3 will be used
Fix: Winterhold GAR Outfit now correctly uses the GAR Cuirass, rather than the Vanilla Cuirass
Addition: Dawnstar outfits now use LLIs containing the different Dawnstar armour variations for more variability in equipment
Addition: Winterhold outfits now use LLIs containing the different Winterhold armour variations for more variability in equipment
Addition: Shields added to outfits that were previously missing them
Inventory meshes should now be fixed for Whiterun Boots and Gauntlets. A GAR bug resulted in the issue; both items had bad mesh paths
Special thanks to: titanbass1 for some of the detailed reports on issues affecting the previous release
Version 4.1.0
Added new outfit Ulfric (No Helmet): 0x870
Added new outfit Ulfric (Helmet): 0x86F
Added installer option to distribute Ulfric's armour to him
Version 4.0.0
Core version update. Please update RMB Core. Resolves Morthal distribution issues
Please update to SPID 6.5.2
Keyword distribution tweaks, mostly back-end
Keyword changes/tweaks. Patches between GAR and SoS being split off to a patch hub for easier maintenance
Version 3.0.0
Introduced shared keywords file "rmb_a_guards_shared_DISTR.ini" used by RMB SPID Patches Sons of Skrim & Guard Armor Replacer
rmb_a_guards_shared_DISTR.ini: Contains "isOutfit0Vanilla", which if assigned prevents assigning of SoS or GAR outfits
rmb_a_guards_shared_DISTR.ini: Contains "isOutfit1SoS", which if assigned results in Sons of Skyrim Guard Armors being distributed
rmb_a_guards_shared_DISTR.ini: Contains "isOutfit2GAR", which is assigned at a rate of 100% if Guards do not have isOutfit0Vanilla or isOutfit1SoS
If you intend to only use Guard Armor Replacer, you can remove lines 15 through 24, or just set chances for the SoS keywords (isOutfit1SoS) to 0
If you don't want vanilla outfits ever, change isOutfit0Vanilla chance to 0, or remove the line entirely
This patch removes various vanilla edits and references, including direct changes to the base guard armors. It then distributes the various armors in the form of outfits to Guard NPCs.
Whilst this patch can be used standalone, it was made to complement my Sons of Skyrim patch (which has more dominant distribution, the armours in that pack are more likely to show up). As such, a number of features were made with using the two in conjunction with each other in mind.
Minor bug fixes and balance+consistency changes have also been made - please see the full feature list below for elaboration.
As always, if you have any suggestions or run into any issues, please let me know.
• Scriptless implementation • Replacement plugin, RMB SPID - NordwarUA GAR.esp, which is ESLified and trimmed of all vanilla edits and changes • ESL Light Plugin (doesn't use a slot), to define the outfits • Standalone versions of the various guard armors, rather than the original replacers, for maximum compatibility with other guard mods • Introduces (105) new outfits, used to maximize variety in outfit distribution • Compatible with Bodslides (such as 3BA - BHUNP - CBBE & HIMBO), so long as meshes only are used • Rebalanced and tweaked armours, including light/heavy classification tweaks where it makes sense, and renaming for better distinction • Optional crafting recipes for all items •Misc Patch Hub patches for C.O.C.K.S and Sons of Skyrim • Guard Distribution is handled within rmb_a_guard_armor_replacer_guards_DISTR.ini • Named NPC Distribution is handled within rmb_a_guard_armor_replacer_named_DISTR.ini • Stormcloak Distribution is handled within rmb_a_guard_armor_replacer_stormcloaks_DISTR.ini
• Install Guards Armor Replacer • Remove or hide the Guards_Armor_Replacer.esp. Basically, you want to keep meshes/textures but not the plugin • Install RMB SPID - Core, Spell Perk Item Distributor, and (recommended) SkyPatcher. See requirements for links and details • Install RMB SPID - Guards Armor Replacer
