About this mod
Mesh and texture replacement for normal, snow, and ash dead shrubs.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
- Changelogs
The goal for this mesh and texture replacement is for it to just blend into the background like it belongs in Skyrim, which I think I accomplished because they don't jump out at you in the screen captures. Also, I decided that maybe the dead shrub would look better if it wasn't all dead just mostly dead, which is still slightly alive.
Options
- Available in 1k, 2k, and 4k texture sizes
Installation
- Download the FOMOD. It will allow you to choose your desired texture size during installation.
Performance
- The new meshes should not cause any performance issues. They actually have less triangles and vertices than the vanilla meshes.
- The vanilla texture was 2048x4096 (a rectangular resolution). My version is a square resolution (1k = 1024x1024, 2k = 2048x2048, and 4k = 4096x4096) and is compressed in a BC7 format (the vanilla texture wasn't for some reason). As a comparison the vanilla texture deadshrub01.dds is 10.6 MB. My 1k version of the equivalent texture is 1.33 MB, the 2k is 5.33 MB, and the 4k is 21.3 MB. If you don't have a lot of VRAM, the 1k and 2k versions will use less VRAM than the original vanilla textures.
Version Notes
- In version 1.01, I made some change to the scale of some of the mesh sections. This makes the dead shrub have branch sections of different sizes so it's not quite as uniform as version 1.0
- In version 1.02, I remade the normal map and created unique normal maps for the ash and snow versions of the mesh. The changes probably won't be too noticeable unless you like to view the shrubs up close.
