I friggin ADORE Elianora's Home in a Hat. It's beautiful, functional, unique - ticks all my boxes.
The only issue I had is that it seems a little cheaty to get this awesome home totally for free on game start. So I made two tiny patches that provide alternate methods of gaining access to the home.
D E T A I L S
Both versions remove the quest which adds the Ancient Wizard Hat to the player on game start.
Both versions are ESL-flagged ESPs.
The two versions are not mutually exclusive! You could use both at the same time if you want two ways to obtain the hat.
OPTION 1: Mages Sell Home in a Hat
This file edits a single leveled list so that spell vendors - court wizards and the like - have about a 50/50 chance of having an Ancient Wizard Hat for sale. I set the base price at 5,000, but it will vary significantly based on your speech skill.
Since this version edits a leveled list, you will need a patch for any other mods which also edit LItemSpellTomes00AllSpells.
OPTION 2: Archmage Owns Home in a Hat
This file places one Ancient Wizard Hat in the Achmage's quarters at the College of Winterhold. This turns it into more of a quest reward for becoming Archmage rather than being purchasable.
This version does not edit leveled lists but does (obviously) add an item to the Archmage quarters cell. Place it before other mods that edit cells, especially lighting or sound mods.
This version may also need a patch for any mod that changes that particular spot in the Archmage quarters. Most likely, the worst that would happen is you'll end up with the hat on the floor instead of on the cupboard, but it's also possible that it could become inaccessible with drastic changes to the location.
