Update 12th May.
I'm stoked to be able to add Fluffy Wolves of Skyrim - wolf texture and mesh replacer trophies! A huge thank you to Hornophobic for allowing me to add shell texturing to the mod's wolf heads using their textures. Check out the images in the gallery to get a better idea of the update. I think Hornophobic's textures are fantastic and much more realistic than vanilla and so it's great to be able to add the Wolves of Skyrim wolves to the mod. Be sure to download and endorse Wolves of Skyrim - wolf texture and mesh replacer and give Hornophobic some kudos!
About the mod.
This mod adds more realistic fur to mounted animal trophies using shell-texturing. It's a mesh and texture replacer built on upscaled vanilla textures and GGUNIT's fixed mounted dead animal meshes. A huge thank you to GGUNIT for allowing me to use their fixed meshes. I highly recommend downloading Wall mounted dead animals fixes before installing this mod. Be sure to endorse GGUNIT's mod and give them some kudos.
So far, the mod covers... Bear heads, sabre cats, skeevers, wolves and the G.O.A.T. It also includes a mesh replacer for the wallmountedelkfemale02.nif. That one's not seen around very often and so I've made it a bit different. Check out the images for a better idea of what I mean :) I already covered the wallmountedelkfemale01.nif in my mod More Realistic Fur and Antlers for Wall Mounted Female Elks.
Each type of bear, brown, black, polar, has a slightly different head shape. I've also used different amounts of shell texturing on each one to give them a slightly different look. Brown bears are more shaggy, polar bears are fluff-balls, and black bears are a bit more sleek. Each head has different lengths of shell texturing on different areas of the head to give the impression of different lengths of fur. Snouts generally have shorter hair, manes are longer. In future versions I'll be looking to improve on these different lengths further. Also, I tweaked the sabre cat's eyes so it's not cross eyed anymore!
Future plans: add a male elk, fix the eye textures on the snowy sabre cat, and shell texture the Slaughterfish. I'm only joking about that last one :)!
All the textures in the main mod are 4k. I've also added an optional 2k version. I think you can see a degradation in the quality of the fur at 2k but understand that some of you would prefer a more performance friendly version. That said, because these meshes are indoors they're unlikely to give you any performance issues.
This mod is a mesh and texture replacer and so you can install it or uninstall it at anytime without any ill effects on your save.
