About this mod

Adds special weapons to the most important character in Skyrim. M'aiq the Liar now carries weapons to fit his station!

Requirements
Permissions and credits
"M'aiq carries two weapons, to be safe. What if one breaks?
That would be most unlucky."

-M'aiq the Liar

What is M'aiq's Royal Armory?

Some may ask, "Isn’t it strange that all the important people in Skyrim like Ulfric Stormcloak and General Tullius walk around with common steel weapons?" and make references to fanciful tales where every noble and their daughters seem to be carrying a sword with a name. This does not concern M'aiq. He wonders, though, why he was not given a personal weapon of his own. There are many special words that may be used to describe M'aiq. Some of them may even be accurate. Words like powerful, omnipresent, and khajiit. Why shouldn't one who has walked all the lands of Tamriel carry his own personal weapon? Wouldn’t the most enigmatic of khajjit have a weapon that fits his station? If that has bothered you as much as it has Mai'q, then this is the mod for you!

The main goal of M'aiq's Royal Armory is to add immersion by giving the most important character in Skyrim weapons to match his status. M'aiq has included no quests and no rewards in this mod. These are his weapons and his idea is that you may encounter him with these weapons equipped naturally during play through. M'aiq cautions you not to try to kill or steal from him. You will never get your hands on his weapons. This is first and foremost an atmospheric mod.

"But M'aiq", you ask, "what if I'm a collector and am looking for some new weapons to add to my collection?" M'aiq is sympathetic, but that is not the goal of this mod. Go ask PrivateEye for some collectible weapons.

M'aiq thinks these weapons will blend well with existing weapons. He did make them after all. M'aiq hopes you won’t even notice that there’s a mod running. M'aiq won't. He doesn't even know what these mod things are. He hopes they're edible.

What the mod actually does:
Spoiler:
Show
M'aiq's Royal Armory uses Spell Perk Item Distributor (SPID) to randomly assign M'aiq the Liar one of the new weapons added by PrivateEye's Royal Armory - New Artifacts. Consequently, both Royal Armory - New Artifacts and Spell Perk Item Distributor (SPID) are requirements for this mod.

Installation

M'aiq thinks the easiest way to install this mod is by downloading and activating it through a "mod manager". If you can hire a manager to do the work for you, M'aiq thinks this is better than doing it yourself, yes? Some have called M'aiq lazy. He does not disagree.

Mod Content

- Absorbs health 15 pts
- Absorbs stamina 15pts
- Paralyzes for 2 sec

“M'aiq never goes anywhere without a personal bodyguard. But M'aiq also
knows that a khajiit of his station has to be able to defend himself.
'Why Black Crow?', you ask. The reason is simple. M'aiq has not found them
in other colors."

- 10 pts Frost Damage with 50% chance of double Frost damage
-  3% chance of extra 45 pts Frost Damage

“M'aiq forged this axe in an age when the techniques to work Stalhrim were still
common knowledge. The axe is enchanted with the tides of winter making
it even more deadly, though somewhat unpredictable. Mai'q does not like the cold,
so he is glad that he is furry.“

- Drain magicka 30 pts
- Boost own magicka 70 pts

“M'aiq created this dagger early in his life. Then he gave it to Shalidor.
I
t was meant as a defensive weapon to steal an enemy's magicka and transfer
it to the wielder. Other mages mockingly call the weapon The Hungry Knife.
This confuses M'aiq. What do knives eat?“

- 15 pts Drain Stamina
- 10 pts Stamina Damage

“This greatsword mixes a traditional Imperial design with a sharp ebony
blade. The weapon looks alien and discomforting; a frightening sight to
any who would dare give M'aiq a fight. As far as M'aiq can tell, it contains
no actual dragon fangs. M'aiq would not lie to you about this.“

- Fire, Shock or Frost damage 10 pts
- Absorb magicka 15 pts

“Based on ancient Aldmerian design, these swords are the pinnacle of Altmer
craftsmanship. They are also extremely expensive to produce, reserving
them almost exclusively to the most important within the Thalmor ranks.
And M'aiq.“

- Frost damage 10 pts

“Forged by M'aiq when he was still a young khajiit, he used this warhammer to kill
the Frost Troll who mauled his mother to death. As trophy he mounted
the monster's head on top of the weapon. Not to be wasteful, M'aiq made a lovely
set of lounge furniture with the rest of the creature.“

- 15 pts Fire damage
- 10% more damage to Elves

“It is said that there’s always been an ancestor of M'aiq's helping to work
the Skyforge, and that the family sword Hafyllbrand is the first weapon ever
to be forged there. Hafyllbrand displays the craftsmanship of the old Nords,
and while the sword does show its age, the steel is as sharp as any weapon
forged at the Skyforge today. M'aiq does wonder, though, what happened to
the other half of Yllbrand?“

- Sun damage 30 pts
- Fire damage 20 pts
- Extra damage to vampires
- Illuminates area like a torch

“The Hammer of Light is without a doubt one of the most powerful Dawnguard
artifacts. Legend says that an ancestor of M'aiq's managed to trap a portion
of the sun in the hammer through use of ancient magic. M'aiq thinks it would
have been easier to buy a torch if he needed light.“

- Absorb Stamina 10 pts
- Chaos damage 20 pts
- Boost One Handed skill by 10 pts

“The Harbinger's Axe was mistakenly given to M'aiq by Hircine, the lord of
Werewolves. The axe was both a gift and an insult, for while this was a
truly powerful artifact, it was also a cruel reminder that Hircine did not
know who M'aiq was. Hircine has not asked for it back though.“

- Frost damage 35 pts

“According to some stories an ancestor of M'aiq's forged this weapon
himself out of stalhrim and ebony, while others say he found the sword
stuck in a glacier. When he pulled the weapon free, the entire glacier
shattered into a million little pieces. But M'aiq believes much of that was
made up.“

- Fire damage 25 pts
- Adds Dragon’s Command (Rally) ability

“M'aiq received this sword from the emperor himself and the emperor spared no
expenses. Judgment saw much use during the Great War and the sight of
this weapon held high became a beacon of hope for the Imperials on any
battlefield. M'aiq was sad though. They only liked him for the sword.“

- Damage stamina 15 pts
- Absorb health 15 pts
- Slow target 60 pts for 3 sec

“No one knows how or when M'aiq came into possession of the
shortsword that he calls Malice, but it fits the description of a weapon
wielded by a cultist of Boethiah during the 2nd Era. This cultist was
said to be the Daedric Prince’s personal assassin to whom Boethiah
granted a wicked weapon that could strike swift and drain the power from
its victims. M'aiq thinks that sounds exhausting.“

- Shock damage 10 pts
- Grants 15% elemental resistance and 30% poison resistance

“During and after the Great War the Blades were systematically killed off and
many of their artifacts were destroyed. One of the few surviving members,
M'aiq, took the Mentor's Blade as a weapon when he went into exile to
safeguard this last treasure of a dying order. M'aiq now waits for a young
hero to arrive and drive the plot forward."

- 45 pts Chain Lightning

“M'aiq has always tried to push the boundaries of magic, but his research into
heart stones has allowed him to create stronger spells than before. His
current staff is a work of art, with an enchantment that is extremely
deadly in the right hands. And also the left hands. M'aiq is ambidextrous.“

- No enchantment

“The blade was forged by Maiq’s father (also M'aiq) who was an exceptional
blacksmith. After his death, Northern Honour was returned to young M'aiq
who kept the blade by his side while he honed his skills. When it was
his time to join the legion, M'aiq took the sword with him. When he was asked
to leave the legion, M'aiq also took the sword with him. It is M'aiq's sword,
after all."

- Does extra damage to Daedra, Undead, Werewolves and Hagravens

“Pendulum is M'aiq's symbol of justice, a special long mace forged years ago
specifically for him when he took office. It’s a weapon made for killing, and it’s
especially good at killing monsters. M'aiq, however, denies taking any offices.
Those accusations are baseless.“

- 10 pts Absorb Health, 15 pts shock damage (Regnving)
- 10 pts Absorb Health, 15 pts frost damage (Snærving)

“To match his fighting style, M'aiq forged himself two hatchets; light
and small axes that allow him to slash and cut at blinding speed. The
Skaal will tell you that after M'aiq named his weapons the All-Maker
himself extended his blessing and enchanted the axes with the power of
storm and snow. The Skaal are wrong though. M'aiq did not name
the axes; 'regnving' and 'snærving' were the sound of M'aiq's sneezes."

- Frost damage 25 pts
- Extra damage against Elves

“Rikvard is a legendary axe said to have been brought to Skyrim by one of
Ysgramor's companions. M'aiq now wields the axe, and he cleverly uses the
mythical status of Rikvard as a symbol to solidify his position as leader.
As M'aiq's Stormcloak rebellion takes shape, Rikvard has become a symbol
of Nord independence. And, so far, no one has noticed that M'aiq is not
a Nord. M'aiq thinks it must be the whiskers."

- 20 pts absorb stamina
- 20% more damage to Falmer

“On one excavation M'aiq and his nephew M'aiqantar uncovered a Dwarven
shortsword, which they would later name Shard. While M'aiq was
determined to add this weapon to his Dwemer museum, M'aiqantar persuaded
him to keep the artifact by his side. This is good, because M'aiq has since
misplaced his museum.“

- 15 pts Sun damage
- Extra damage to Undead and Werewolves

“The story behind Silvertongue is a cruel one. An ancient patriarch of M'aiq's
family had Silvertongue made with the silver mined in Cidhna mine.
A swordsmith imprisoned there was forced to forge the weapon. It is
said that he labored for weeks without rest and by the time the weapon
was done, the blood from his hands ran dark over the blade. This was a terrible
thing! M'aiq's family had to labor for weeks to get the bloodstains out."

- Chance of one or more random effects! Not all to your benefit..

“Smile was first seen in the hands of M'aiq after he returned from his final
job before taking the position of Keeper. The task was to assassinate a
jester. Funny suit and all. M'aiq returned with the dagger in hand and with
his sanity shattered. M'aiq got better though. Would you like some cheese?“

- 15 pts Shock damage

“Stormbird is a beautiful little sword, extremely detailed and displaying
some of the best Altmerian craftsmanship. But it doesn't take a trained
eye to notice the weapon's bulk; Stormbird is a heavy and clunky weapon
for it's size. Those are hurtful words though; M'aiq hopes that Stormbird
isn't one of those intelligent magical swords. Stormbird is perfect the way
it is."

- Stamina damage 20 pts
- Shock damage 15 pts

“The Blade of Dragonsreach was forged by an ancestor of M'aiq's during
the early 2nd era as a symbol of his power. After his death the sword was
passed on from Jarl to Jarl, because, in the end, this exceptional weapon
is truly worthy of the leader of Whiterun. They keep asking M'aiq to be Jarl,
but he always declines. Dragonsreach is drafty and still smells of dragon.“

- Fire damage 15 pts
- Boost Two Handed skill by 20 pts

“Yokuda’s Edge is a remarkable weapon that takes the traditional Alik'r
curved design and applies it to a two-handed sword. M'aiq's sword is of truly
exceptional craftsmanship, allowing its wielder to swing at a speed that would
seem impossible for a weapon its size. But M'aiq does wonder why Skyrim's
guards are so obsessed with those warriors from Hammerfell and their curved
swords? Curved. Swords."

How to get these weapons?

Obviously you want to get your hands on these weapons now. You cannot. These are M'aiq's weapons. But maybe M'aiq is lying and there is a way.

But there is not.

FAQ

M'aiq says to always be sure to read the above mod description first!
Still didn't find the answers you're looking for? Maybe you'll find them in this section.

-Are you really M'aiq the Liar?
No.

-Are you lying?
Maybe.

-Do texture replacers work with M'aiq's Royal Armory?
Yes, as long as they override the original Skyrim textures.

-Does (Mod X) conflict with M'aiq's Royal Armory?
M'aiq's Royal Armory is a very minimal mod. It only adds weapons to M'aiq. Other mods that add weapons to M'aiq may conflict. Or not. It depends.

-Some/most weapons appear invisible.
M'aiq is a powerful sorcerer and has made his weapons invisible. But only while you're looking at them.

-Will you create a patch for (Mod X)?
No. But if anybody would like to create a patch between M'aiq's Royal Armory and another mod they are free to do so. Upload your mod and send M'aiq a link so it can be linked in the description.

-Can I translate M'aiq's Royal Armory to another language?
M'aiq would be happy if you did! Upload your translation and send M'aiq a link so it can be linked in the description.

-Can I use assets from your mod for my own mod project?
No! M'aiq made these and he does not want to share. But even if he did, this mod contains no assets.
