This is probably my best and most detailed project. Hope you like it. A beautiful mix of muddy, rocky and grassy landscapes, each unique to their own environments
Hand-made textures
So the textures aren't exactly "made by hand", but none of them are procedurally generated, or just taken from other sources - put together by me. I sourced out textures specific to each region, and how I believe they should look. I have colour corrected each texture and mixed them with others, such as stones or grass, to add more character to each texture. I have also minimised tiling on most textures, but most noticeably on the ones that aren't covered in grass (usually). I used AI to enhance my work - to upscale some low res and vanilla textures, and implemented into the textures used. Each texture is completely different from the next, providing a sense of regionality and uniqueness to the landscapes. TLDR, every texture has been carefully constructed for this mod by me, using lots of different photoscanned assets.
Description A short description of the textures used in each region, and why I chose them.
Tundra
The tundra region in Skyrim has been depicted as grassy and arid. So dry grass mixed with lots of stones and moss felt perfect. I have also added a green option for those who prefer that.
Rift
Rich, grassy and muddy soil, with lots of rock in the landscapes. The formation of the rift would result in these types of landscapes - hence why it is teeming with life, and the landscapes should represent that
Pine Forest
Pine forests usually do not have much grass, but in order to keep the Skyrim flavour, I have mixed grassy with rocky and muddy textures. Lots of twigs and leaf litter, mixed with short grass.
Snow
Fluffy, beautiful snow - with almost zero tiling. Not much else to say, as the screenshots speak for themselves!
Reach
The reach has mostly been depicted as mossy and grassy, but I've always felt it to be better fitting with dry, rocky mud, with sparce growth of moss and short grass - and that's exactly what I have done here. I personally used Northern Grass for this region, as it fits what I've just said perfectly.
Coast
Now here's the more fantasy than realism part. Skyrim's beaches should be like the black beaches in Iceland, but I've decided with cold, sandy beaches. Again, almost zero tiling, and a mix of wet, dry, and shell filled sand.
Rivers
Rocks! Lots of rocks, and mud in specific regions. Very realistic, and looks amazing with parallax!
Marsh
Frozen, snowy grass and mud. Looks absolutely amazing. I reused my snowgrass texture, and colour corrected it to fit seamlessly, and I love it.
Volcanic Tundra
One of my favourites - Dry cracked mud, filled with stones and dirt. I imagine that the volcanic tundra region being so hot would result in the moisture leaving the soil and resulting in it being very dry.
Roads
Included in the FOMOD are textures for Blended Roads. These are less regional and less diverse than HD Remastered Blended Roads, so if you want something more subtle - use the one in the FOMOD, but if you want more diversity, check out HD Remastered Blended Roads.
Parallax
In your ENBSeries.ini make sure that you have the following
This has been created using complex terrain parallax. It may work without it, but it is not designed to. I probably will not make a non-parallax version. The parallax/bumpiness was made subltly and realistically. I didnt make the textures simple bumpy, but the height is based of the texture itself - so stones will be higher etc. Now there are a few issues with terrain parallax - and thats the blend with textures that aren't parallaxed. So rock piles will have some seams and things. If there are any mods that fix this, I will link them, and if you know of them, do post it in the comments.
