Increases the cost of all vanilla healing spells for both player and NPCs.

I made this mod for myself as I was getting tired of Restoration spells making high-difficulty or combat realism mods feel very trivial. I play with magic a lot and I like keeping the game pretty difficult with stuff like Wildcat. But healing spells are WAAAAY too powerful for how cheap they are if you fully upgrade Restoration or wear cost-reducing items like archmage's robes.

Being able to instantly max out my health with a 0.5 seconds casting time, costing only 3% of my total magicka... It kinda takes away the fun of playing with more high-stakes gameplay, especially in survival mode.

This mod aims to dramatically increase the cost of healing spells, getting increasingly more expensive in terms of health-per-magicka for each tier of spells, reducing both how often you can afford to use them and making using lower level Restoration spells more attractive. For example: Close Wounds will heal you 100 points of health instantly, but the magicka cost is increased by 3x the base cost. Whereas the novice spell, Healing, has only a 0.5x increase. Therefore lower level spells should give you more health for their cost, but at the downside of being slower to act. Whereas higher level spells allow you to recover a huge amount of health, but at a less than optimal cost ratio, in addition to just being really expensive if you don't have the requisite restoration perks.

Compatible with anything that doesn't change the spells listed below!

Below is a table detailing the new magicka cost and percentage equivalent to its original value of each spell that's altered by this mod. The cost shown is WITHOUT the matching Restoration perks to halve cost. If a spell isn't listed here, it's because I didn't touch it.

  • Healing: 18 magicka per second = 150% of original cost
  • Healing Hands: 37 magicka per second = 150% of original cost
  • Heal Other: 200 magicka per cast = 250% of original cost
  • Fast Healing: 219 magicka per cast = 300% of original cost
  • Close Wounds: 441 magicka per cast = 400% of original cost
  • Grand Healing: 1270 magicka per cast = 500% of original cost

I've also included a version that comes with AKmods's Restoration Rebalanced - Healing Over Time patched into my mod so you get the changes of both mods at the same time. You do not need to install the original mod from his page. All credit to him for the heal over time rebalance.
