Changes the appearance of Brandt, Ozwald, and Romion (the three main dudes of Glenmoril) using CotR assets. Face only. No body or armor changes. You don't need CotR installed to get this to work.
Also added a few more perks to Brandt (Hack and Slash rank 1, Armsman rank 2, Shield Wall rank 4 and Agile Defender rank 4)--makes him slightly tankier for those of us who play with combat mods.
FOR GLENMORIL SE VERSION 0.95.50.r1 (the latest version as of August 25th 2023). I don't know whether this will work on any other versions--if you want to try, go ahead, but don't come yelling at me if something doesn't work or your save gets borked.
If Glenmoril gets updated in the future, wait for me to test in game to see if my replacer is still working. I'll fix/update accordingly if it doesn't.
(would you look at that, the mod gets updated right after I publish this. Still works, thankfully. If you're updating Glenmoril manually and want to avoid overwriting facegen files, you could simply reinstall Glenmoril, then reinstall my mod (say yes if it asks to overwrite). Mod manager users should be fine.)
Questions someone will probably ask in the future:
- I don't like this, I don't like that. Too ugly, too uncanny-valley, too (insert adjective here). Don't use this mod then.
- Compatible with Glenmoril - NPC Overhaul? Yes, if you let this mod load below that, and overwrite any facegen files from that mod with the ones from this mod.
- Black face bug! As with any NPC replacer, make sure you've installed everything correctly. Reinstall the mod if you're not sure. Pull the esp to the very last of your load order as a last resort. Make sure you didn't accidentally overwrite my facegen files with the original ones from Glenmoril (if you're doing a manual install, for example), or with the aforementioned NPC Overhaul.
Note: If you're experiencing black face bug, DO NOT USE Face Discoloration Fix (their heads will turn invisible). This is because I didn't actually include any assets from KS Hairdos or Charmers of the Reach, only the tri files. Don't mess with their head morphs in CK either--I use Racemenu to sculpt their faces, not the in-game sliders. If you get black face bug on any of these three NPCs, sort out your load order.
- Their face textures don't match their bodies! Well yes, because I didn't package any body textures. Since these NPCs are fully clothed from the neck down all the time, I figured packaging a custom body for them isn't worth the hassle.
- They have neck gap! They shouldn't, because I didn't alter their weights in any way.
- Do I need to install CotR for this to work? No.
- ESL-ified? Yes.
- Romion's neck looks too dummy thicc compared to his arms and legs! His glasses clip with his hair and sit too high on his nose! I hate it!
Changing their bodies and armor is well beyond the scope of this mod. Just deal with it, I guess. As for the glasses... yeah that's my fault. I should've adjusted his face with those in mind, but I forgot
- Brandt's ears clip through his helmet! I'm aware of that. CotR has this strange quirk where ears can't be completely hidden under helmets or hoods (in my game anyway). I couldn't flatten his ears without making his unmasked face look odd. A small price, I'd say.
- Why do you remove Ozwald's hat and mask? The hat, because it clips with the hair I chose (again. my bad). The mask, because I just felt like it. You can add it back to him with console commands if you want.
- Ozwald is naked! You installed this mid-game, didn't you? Open console, click on him and type 'resetinventory', enter.
- Why is the plugin name 'Glenmoril NPCs Refined' when you only include 3 NPCs? I intended to overhaul way more NPCs, but something something got borked and I could only salvage these three.
- Can I have them as Racemenu presets? Nope.
- Can you expand this mod to include other NPCs from Glenmoril? Probably not at this point.
Technical details: Face textures saved with BC7 compression. Everything else saved with BC3.
Diffuse textures for eyes are standalone, the rest (cubemap, normal map) use your installed textures. In my screenshots I'm using BnP - Eye Overhaul.
Known issue: there is a teeeeeeny tiny clipping with Brandt's eye mesh that's only visible in Nifskope.
Brandt, Ozwald, and Romion are changed from default vanilla Breton and Nord races to custom unplayable races to get the new headparts to work. Any mod that affects vanilla race records (Racial Body Morphs, etc) will no longer affect them.
