About this video

Was doing some reading on differences between DX11 and DX12 as far as handling draw calls when rendering a scene.
Since we cannot run Skyrim SE in DX12 this is kind of a moot point right?

Not really.
We can hook Vulkan using reshade then post load d3d11.dll from ENBseries so the ENB is fully functioning as well but in Vulkan
instead of DX11.

Sounds like a fun experiment :)

Let's find out if it yields a higher frame rate than DX11

The instructions for getting Skyrim (or Fallout) to run in Vulkan can be
found here
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/58963
Thanks to MinuvonBattenberg

Be aware that it does require installing reshade for Vulkan and getting the ENB Postloader SKSE .dll as well but believe it or not it actually
works and Skyrim with 560 mods, and Rudy ENB with all effects enabled
runs.

You can watch the videos for comparison but long story short I would not
recommend it as a better option (at least for an nVidia card using
MinuvonBattenberg config settings that were designed for AMD).

Could the config be tweaked for better performance on nVidia?
Maybe, but I wouldn't know where to start there.

Still it was a fun experiment and ran better than I thought it would.

I wasn't looking and the fps but rather just following Sonja's bounce...  Although not terrible, there was noticeable frame stutter in the first option that totally smoothed out with the second option in the latter half of the video.  Sonja has a lovely bounce.

Adventure ever on dear brother, Phat

      Lmao
I happen to like her ‘bounce’ as well :)
And you’re correct there was a few stutters with Vulkan and it seemed to be staging more assets on vram and less on system ram but still had trouble transferring the data from cpu->GPU hence the stutter.
Could be because with Vulkan it needs to be running Reshade and I’m not sure how Reshade handles data transfer or how much resources it eats just running without any effects in the background.
Bottom line for me is dx11 seems to still be my best option and I had fun playing around :)

Great video. What is your GPU? I was just wondering what the performance is between the two, but I'm not surprised by the outcome. Sad really, I wanted to get a Radeon 5800XT with 16GB RAM for that extra texture memory, but I'm afraid to ruin an already good thing I have going.

      I’m running team green
      a 3090
At this point I was looking at reducing draw calls or finding a way to handle more of them.
For reference on the bridge looking at Riverwood (one of the worst places in my game) it’s pulling about 18,000 draw calls according to ENB profiler.
From my reading DX11 starts to struggle with the amount of data to transfer at about 12,000 draw calls.
The config I was using for this test was straight copy pasted from the tutorial which was made for an AMD card.
Im just kinda surprised it ran in Vulkan, and at how well it did.
