About this mod

This is a hyper realism reshade meant to increase immersion by creating a more moody, realistic looking darkness while also maintaining reasonable visibility for game play. This was designed on a newer monitor with display HDR turned on. Before and after pics for comparison.

Info: Lighting, shadows, picture clarity, and overall details have been enhanced with effects and balanced sharpening. Dark spots appear darker, representing your visibility meter more accurately. A few individual colors have been tweaked while mostly maintaining respect to the games original colors. All colors have been given more richness and vibrancy as well as the appearance of some hidden colors. Your Night Vision goggles have a much more realistic looking green as well. Base game is already very dark in some areas, but now you don't stand out like a sore thumb so much.

Install: Download and install Reshade it to Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, then download and extract my zip file and place the Born In The Darkness.ini into your system folder.

Notes: I recommend installing EAX Restoration (audio enhancements) First Person Mod, and SCCT Ai Enhanced Story Videos if you haven't already. Individual monitor and game settings alter the darkness of the reshade. Tests on older monitors without HDR confirms decrease in clarity. My in game brightness is lower than defaults. This reshade really shines best when the game is played in a dark room or at night time. I made this because I would often see a dark spot and think it would be dark enough to hide in safely, only to still be seen :) Darkness in the base game was masterfully done, so if anything this is just my attempt at appreciating an awesome game. Please let me know if you have any issues. Anyways thanks and have fun?!

Monitor Info: My monitor is a Viotek GNV34DBE Curved | 144Hz, with the noise reduction enabled. Dynamic luminous control dramatically changes the brightness, and is entirely preference. HDR is enabled in the display and monitor settings.
