Version 7 | Developed by SLIM420
Overview
Experience an entirely new way to see the night. Custom Night Vision Goggles transforms your game’s visuals by simulating the authentic look of advanced night vision goggles.
This shader mod is meticulously crafted to amplify low-light environments, adding cinematic flair and realistic optical artifacts.
Whether you’re sneaking through dark corridors or exploring eerie landscapes, this shader brings an immersive, high-tech night vision experience to your gameplay.
Key Features
1. Advanced Light Amplification
- NVG Power Control:
Adjust the overall brightness and sensitivity of the NVG effect with a dedicated slider. The shader amplifies the ambient light, revealing hidden details in pitch-black scenes while preventing overexposure. - Auto-Gate Function:
Automatically modulate brightness when the scene suddenly shifts to intense light. This mimics the real-world behavior of night vision devices by dynamically reducing brightness in overly lit areas.
- Lens Distortion:
Choose between two distortion types—pincushion (inward curvature) or barrel (outward bulging)—to simulate different lens imperfections. The strength and falloff of this effect can be finely tuned, ensuring the distortion naturally diminishes from the edges to the center. - Tunnel Vision (Vignette):
Emulate the characteristic “tunnel vision” of NVGs by darkening the periphery. Customize the inner and outer vignette intensities and select from various goggle mask shapes (circular, square, or elliptical) to perfectly match your desired aesthetic.
- NVG Tint & Color Adjustment:
Activate a tint (default green or a user-selected color) to emulate traditional night vision. Fine-tune brightness, contrast, and the blending of colors so that even subtle details are enhanced. - Visor Clarity:
Adjust the simulated visor’s opacity to control how much of the underlying scene is visible. This effect replicates the slight blurring and imperfections found in physical NVG visors.
- Depth-Aware Effects:
The shader leverages the scene’s depth information to modulate effects such as distortion and vignette intensity. Closer objects are treated differently than distant ones, adding a realistic three-dimensional feel to the overall image. - Dynamic Focus:
Mimic the behavior of a real optical system by blurring areas outside the set focus range. With adjustable focus depth and range, the shader intelligently softens parts of the scene, emulating the natural focusing behavior of both cameras and the human eye.
- Chromatic Aberration:
Introduce slight color fringing by offsetting the red and blue channels relative to green, replicating the imperfections seen in lower-quality optics. - Noise & Grain:
Add a layer of organic grain to the image to simulate sensor noise and the analog character of older NVG devices. This effect breaks up overly smooth areas and enhances the “electronic” look of the display. - Scanlines:
Optionally overlay horizontal scanlines for a retro, display-like appearance, reinforcing the notion of a processed, screen-based view. - Glitch Effects:
Simulate digital interference with configurable glitch options—ranging from subtle pixel shifts to pronounced vertical distortions—adding a dynamic, sometimes erratic character to the effect. - Edge Detection with Motion Sensitivity:
A Sobel-based filter highlights edges and contours, especially for moving objects, adding an extra layer of depth and helping the player distinguish key details in the environment. - Heat Haze Simulation:
Replicate the shimmering distortion caused by heat. A time-varying sinusoidal offset creates a realistic haze around bright or hot areas, enhancing the atmospheric quality of the night vision display. - Lens Flare & Dynamic Lighting:
Optionally incorporate lens flare effects that respond dynamically to bright light sources, simulating stray light and reflections that occur in real-world optics.
- Prerequisite:
Ensure that you have ReShade installed and properly configured for your game. - Setup:
- Place the shader file into your ReShade/Shaders directory.
- Import or add the mod to your ReShade preset configuration file.
- Launch the Game:
Open your game and bring up the ReShade overlay (commonly by pressing Shift+F2 or your configured hotkey). - Enable the Shader:
Locate the “Custom Nightvision” technique in your effects list and enable it. - Customize the Experience:
- Use the user-friendly interface to adjust NVG power, lens distortion, tunnel vision intensity, color tint, and other visual effects.
- Experiment with depth effects and dynamic focus settings to fine-tune the three-dimensional feel.
- Toggle additional effects like chromatic aberration, noise, scanlines, and glitch for further personalization.
- For Lower-End Systems:
Consider disabling some of the more advanced effects (such as thermal bloom or dynamic focus) to ensure smooth gameplay without sacrificing too much visual quality. - Fine-Tuning:
Adjust parameters in small increments while testing in real-time to achieve the perfect balance for your environment.
The Custom Night Vision Goggles Shader v7 is more than just a simple green filter—it’s a comprehensive tool for transforming your gaming experience at night. With an extensive array of customizable settings and a focus on realistic visual simulation, this shader is perfect for gamers and developers looking to add an extra layer of immersion and authenticity to low-light environments.
