FAQ

How do I access the catalogue(s)?
The Catalogue and Furniture Catalogue are vanilla items which can be normally be purchased from Pierre and Robin, respectively. If they aren't available, you likely have another mod changing how they are obtained.

Is Android supported / does this work on android?
Not currently.

Controller support?
It's on the roadmap, but right now the menu only sort of works with controllers.

Are custom catalogues supported?
All custom catalogues that are registered with Happy Home Designer will work just fine. If you are a mod author looking to add support for your custom catalogue, please read the Information for Modders article for more information. All registered custom catalogues are treated the same way as the rare catalogues, and will likewise be included in the Collector's Catalogue automatically.

How do I get color/texture variations of things?
This is actually a feature of Alternative Textures and its content packs. Happy Home Designer does not add any variants on its own, it simply provides integration with Alternative Textures while both mods are installed.

How do I configure the mod?
Like all mods, it can be manually configured by editing the config.json file in the mod's directory. The game must be run with the mod loaded at least once for the config file to appear. It can also be configured using Generic Mod Config Menu, if that mod is installed. When both are installed, a gear button will also appear at the top of the catalogue UI, which will open the mod's config options directly. For more detailed descriptions of what the config options do, see this page.

How do I access combined catalogues?
There are two ways. The first is to place one catalogue on top of the other. The second is to combine them into a single item. This can be done while the inventory is open, by holding one and right-clicking the other with it, like you're equipping bait to a fishing rod. This is supported by the Catalogue, Furniture Catalogue, Happy Home Catalogue, Designer's Dream Catalogue, and the Collector's Catalogue. The combined catalogues can be separated by right-clicking again with an empty cursor, like taking bait out of a fishing rod.

Why can't I combine the rare catalogues with anything?
Due to the technical complexity involved, and the nature of the rare catalogues (and custom catalogues from other mods), this is not supported, and there are no plans to support it at the moment. However, this mod includes a new catalog that features the inventory from all rare catalogues, including custom catalogues that are registered with Happy Home Designer.

How do I obtain the Collector's Catalogue?

Once you've obtained all five of the rare catalogues from vanilla, you will receive a letter in the mail. Afterwards, it will be available from Robin's shop. In multiplayer, it works if the catalogues are obtained by any player, even if not the same player.

What does the wizard's letter mean / how do I obtain the Architect's Catalogue?
Spoiler:
Show
Once you've obtained a designer's dream catalogue (by combining a collector's catalogue and a happy home catalogue), you will receive a mysterious letter from the wizard with a hint. Using fairy dust on a placed designer's dream catalogue will consume the fairy dust and use magic to turn the designer's dream catalogue into an architect's catalogue.

How do I use the Architect's Catalogue / What does it do?
Spoiler:
Show
The architect's catalogue is a handheld version of the designer's dream catalogue. Because it is a tool, you have to use it like a tool to open the menu from your inventory. It can also be placed on a table, where it can also be used by right-clicking the table.

The Architect's Catalogue has a glitched animation when I use it!
Obtaining an architect's catalogue by illegitimate means may sometimes produce a glitched copy due to a bug in the game. Use CJB Cheats to destroy the old one and give yourself a new one, or create a non-glitched one using the intended method.
