Sebastian idolized his father. And when his parents parted company, he was old enough to understand what was going on, but too young to cope. He scared away several would-be suitors of Robin's and when she met and became engaged to Demetrius, little Sebastian (then maybe 4-6 years old), behaved really badly. When a half sister came along shortly after their marriage, he pointed out to everyone that she was his half-sister, not his sister. Even though the two of them had quite a lot in common, he refused to really connect with her. Demetrius, of course, doted on his daughter. Roll forward a few years and Sebastian has done his college studies to learn enough about computers to get a job working on computers. He's been talking for _years_ about how he wants to leave Pelican Town, how his future lies in the city, etc etc. Yet still, he makes no move to move, preferring instead to continue to live in his Mom's basement. Which would be fine, but he's still talking like the "Grass is greener" i the pastures of Zuzu... but all talk, and no action.
Wow) Just talked about it with my hubby... He says it was always "the thing" to him to see how ppl's dreams and hopes are vanished or postponing at year after year and when the Farmer came up they all (bachelors and bachelorettes) out of a blue make a decision to leave their plans behind and stay with the Farmer in this little countryside... Kinda a very sad thing. Seb is one who may be okay with that because he could work from home tho.
there's a book in their bedroom called "how to be a step father" something. Demetrius tried to build bridges with Sebastian once but I think he loathes his choice of lifestyle, you know, Sebastian's habit of smoking.
