About this mod

Increases the sell value & health/energy stats of most cooked foods so that 1) Cooking is always profitable even when using iridium ingredients, and 2) Cooked Food doesn't give less health & energy then the individual ingredients used to cook it.

Cooked Foods always seems like an afterthought in Stardew Valley. Many of the recipes are unprofitable to make even with normal quality ingredients, and a lot of cooked food gives you less health & energy then the individual ingredients used to cook it, especially when higher quality ingredients are used.

This mod re-balances most cooked foods in the game in the following ways:

  • Cooking is always profitable even when using iridium ingredients. The new gold price was determined by adding up the selling price of iridium quality ingredients (where applicable), adding a 20% profit margin to compensate our farmer for their time & labor, and rounding the price up to the nearest number that ended in a 5 or 0.
  • The above price calculations make the most favorable assumptions for your Professions. So for example Fish all get a 50% price bump from the Angler profession, Cheese gets a 40% boost from the Artisan Profession.
  • The new health & energy stats were determined by adding up the health & energy stats of the individual ingredients. In cases where the original health/energy stats were higher then this number I kept the original value. In cases where an item has no health & energy stats (like Pumpkins) I assigned it a value similar to other ingredients of the same cost & type (for example Mussel & Periwinkle got the same health & energy stats as a sunfish).
  • Any other stat gains from food (like Luck & Speed gains) are untouched by this mod.

Note #1: Two cooked foods were left untouched by this mod. Algae Soup, and Pale Broth. Both cost much more then their algae ingredients, and give much more health & energy, so I decided to leave them alone.

Note #2: For the two Foods that require "Any Fish" as an ingredient I used a low level fish in my calculations for both selling price and stat gains, because otherwise Sashimi would be incredibly broken.

IMPORTANT:

This mod requires Content Patcher in order for shops to automatically adjust their item prices. Otherwise you may have infinite money glitches where Gus/etc. might sell items for less then their value.

Patch 1.6: Added Moss Soup.
