Ever accidentally turned your bug meat into steaks when you needed it for something else?
Do you just have more important things to do than raid the mine over & over for more bugs, when you already have a surfeit of bug steaks on hand?
We can squish 10 chunks of bug meat into a bug steak. So, why can't we then pull that steak apart back into chunks?
This mod adds a recipe to do just that! You'll be able to convert steaks back to meat with ease!
1 bug steak will create 10 bug meat; an even ratio with the rate of meat to steak crafting.
A new recipe for "squished bug steak" should become available at Combat level 1, at the same time as the bug steak recipe unlocks.
Requires the latest versions of SMAPI and Content Patcher
Installation
This mod was inspired by Kaizlin's Smooshed Bug Meat mod & is fully compatible & complementary with it. Having both mods installed will show both recipes separately & allow for full unlimited conversion of bug flesh.
But why? Why, you ask? Why a mod to squish steaks back into bug chunks?
Because I got a "quest" from Willy to fetch 100 pieces of bug meat for him, and the mines were being scarce with bug spawns, even giving empty floors with no enemies at bug levels. (gee, why couldn't that have happened when I was working my way to the bottom of the mine, not when I need to kill bugs?)
Any other time the mine would be swarming with bugs, but when I need to kill them, nooooo. I don't have time for that kind of BS!
And yet I had plenty of leftover bug steaks in storage. More than enough to fill Willy's order... if only I could turn them back into chunks...
So I went looking for a mod to do that... and found none!
Only Kaizlin's aforementioned mod that turns bait back into meat, which is a great mod, but not quite what I was looking for. (and I didn't have enough bait to make that work for the quest either, boo :( )
So I was inspired to create my own mod! Et voilà!
BTW, when you convert bug steaks to bug meat, it does count the converted bug meat toward the quest's collection goal... what Willy doesn't know won't hurt him.

- Make sure you have the latest versions of SMAPI and Content Patcher installed.
- Download the mod and extract it into your mods folder --> Stardew Valley/Mods.
- Run your game with SMAPI.
- Enjoy tearing bug steaks apart with your bare hands. Your bare hands!
