🌟 UPDATE 1.6: Version 1.1 has been updated for SDV 1.6. Please let me know if you run into any issues.

About this mod
"Pam and Gus Get a Happy Ending" adds 9 unique heart events for Pam and Gus, showing their romance progressing from friendship to marriage and moving in. The heart event progression depends on your heart level with both Pam and Gus, and each event can only be triggered if the previous event has been viewed (so everything is shown to you in order and you won't miss anything). I focused on keeping everything canon-compliant and lore-friendly in both the events and the dialogue.

Why Pam and Gus?
I made this for myself because I wanted to see more of their relationship and how it could have been. I'm sharing it here because there might be other players who feel the same way. (I'm looking at you, authors of the four fics where this pairing is tagged on AO3!)

I also hope this is the beginning of a "Rare Hearts" event series for some of the less appreciated residents and pairings of Pelican Town.

Events
Information about how to trigger each of the events in this mod, including day, time, location, and requirements.

  • Event 1
    Spoiler:
    Show
Enter the Stardrop Saloon any day between 6pm and midnight. This event won't trigger unless you have 1 heart with both Pam and Gus.
  • Event 2
    Spoiler:
    Show
Enter town between 9pm and 2am on any sunny day except Wednesday or Sunday. This event won't trigger unless you've seen Pam and Gus's 1-heart event and have 2 hearts with both Pam and Gus.
  • Event 3
    Spoiler:
    Show
Enter the Stardrop Saloon between 8am and 5pm on any weekday (not Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). The saloon doesn't open until noon, so you may not be able to enter until then. This event won't trigger unless you've seen Pam and Gus's 2-heart event and have 5 hearts with both Pam and Gus.
  • Event 4
    Spoiler:
    Show
Enter the Stardrop Saloon any day between 6pm and midnight. This event won't trigger unless you've seen Pam and Gus's 5-heart event and have 6 hearts with both Pam and Gus.
  • Event 5
    Spoiler:
    Show
Enter the Stardrop Saloon between 10am and 5pm on any weekday (not Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). This event won't trigger unless you've seen Pam and Gus's 6-heart event and have 7 hearts with both Pam and Gus.
  • Event 6
    Spoiler:
    Show
Enter town between 10pm and 2am on any sunny weekday (not Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). This event won't trigger unless you've seen Pam and Gus's 7-heart event and have 8 hearts with both Pam and Gus.
  • Event 7a
    Spoiler:
    Show
Enter the Stardrop Saloon between 8am and 5pm any day of the week. This event won't trigger unless you've seen Pam and Gus's 8-heart event and Pam's official 9-heart event, have 10 hearts with both Pam and Gus, and have completed Pam's Community Upgrade. Note: This event was previously very long. In version 1.1, I've cut it into three smaller events.
  • Event 7b
    Spoiler:
    Show
Enter Pam's house between 8am and 12pm any day of the week. This event won't trigger unless you've seen the previous event (Event 7a) and still have 10 hearts with both Pam and Gus.
  • Event 7c
    Spoiler:
    Show
Enter the Stardrop Saloon between 8am and 2pm any day of the week. This event won't trigger unless you've seen the previous event (Event 7b) and still have 10 hearts with both Pam and Gus. Note: 1-2 days after this event, Pam and Gus's schedules will be altered, Gus will move in with Pam, and new dialog will start showing up.

Installation
  • Download the file.
  • Open your Stardew Valley "Mods" folder. If you downloaded a previous version of this mod, delete the folder "[CP] Pam and Gus Happy Ending" from your mods folder. (This won't affect your saved games.)
  • Open the downloaded .zip file and drag the folder "[CP] Pam and Gus Happy Ending" from the .zip file into your Mods folder.

Config (removed)
This mod doesn't currently require config options. It previously required you to manually change the "Version" and "SVE" options in the config, but this is no longer a requirement. In the future, I'll add other options, but for now, there isn't anything to configure.

Compatibility

  • Compatible with Stardew Valley Expanded, Ridgeside Village, and East Scarp
  • Probably not compatible with mods that allow you to romance Pam or Gus, especially if they change their dialogue or schedules.
  • Probably not compatible with Diverse Stardew Valley because some options edit Gus's dialogue, but this hasn't been tested.
  • Please let me know if you find any issues or any mods that aren't compatible and I'll update the description.

Future Plans (tentative)

  • Internationalization
  • More dialog updates
  • More family-oriented heart events for Pam, Penny, and Gus (+ the farmer if married to Penny)
  • More content around Pam's recovery from substance/alcohol use disorder and Pam and Penny working on their relationship
  • Mocktails at the bar
  • Option to move into Stardrop Saloon instead

Acknowledgements
This mod was inspired in part by zoedoll's excellent Ridgeside Rival Hearts - Jeric and Alex mod, as well as the amazing community of mod makers on the Stardew Valley discord server.

Trigger Warnings

Drinking, being drunk and disoriented, alcohol use disorder (alcoholism)

Note: This is a work of fiction. Fiction and reality are very different. It isn't meant to be an in-depth examination of alcohol use disorder or recovery/sobriety. It's focused on the relationship between Pam and Gus with some lightly recovery-related heart events that are more like glimpses into the process. It shouldn't be looked to for any kind of guidance around recovery or even as a good example of what that might look like in the real world.

If you or someone you love needs help with alcohol use disorder, you can call the SAMHSA National Helpline for free, confidential help at 1-800-662-4357.
