Have seen a lot of Pokemon-themed/related mods around for Stardew Valley, replacing pet and farm animal textures with those of Pokemon, or even add them as new animals altogether. And yet, there is none of the clearly best Pokemon of all (totally not biased), Absol. So I did it myself. Installing this Content Patcher texturepack replaces up to all three types of cats you can have as your farm pet with Absol - either normal or shiny. Not much more to say about it.
The sprites used come from the official assets of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Explorers of Sky, as well as the additional sprites the ROM hacking community added to the mix to give Pokemon like Absol's all main story/player animations. Credits to Spike Chunsoft and the community artist respectively. See additional credit links for individually credited names.
The inventory icon is from the game "Pokemon Trozei!", shrunk down to 16x16 and attempted to salvage by myself (including the shiny recolor, also done by myself).
Configuration
As of version 1.2, the mod allows to individually configure all three cat types. Inside the mod folder you will find a config.json file. Editing this with any text editor (including good ol' Windows Editor) you can change the values of the three settings ReplaceOne, ReplaceTwo and ReplaceThree. As one might guess, each one referring to cat type 1, 2 or 3.
Allowed values are "normal", "shiny" and "false" - the latter of which does not change that cat variant. This helps with having multiple cat replacements mods at the same time, if you want one cat type to be one specific replacent (assuming said other mods allow for configuration as well.)
Make sure you keep valid JSON syntax - online tools for easy JSON validation can be found a-plenty.
Installation & Dependencies
This content pack is offered in two versions.
The main download contains the version for the commonly used Content Patcher API. It is the version that, when downloaded, is denoted by the "[CP]" at the beginning of the folder name.
The optional download contains the version for the Alternative Textures API. It is the version that, when downloaded, is denoted by the "[AT]" at the beginning of the folder name.
When downloading this mod and you are prompted to download its dependencies, only download the dependency that applies to your version! You can of course try to use both, but I cannot assure you that the results are what you intend.
