About this mod
This mod extends Pathoschild's TractorMod to make it unlock in a natural progression, using a series of quests, rather than a single step you can only afford late in the game. It strives to make the Tractor a natural part of the game that expands in power over time but never becomes overpowered.

Grandpa was a great guy, but maybe not that great at keeping his tractor in good shape. You'll find parts of it around your farm - behind trees, under logs and rocks and, well, let's not spoil too much eh? Granddad's antics with the tractor were the stuff of legend, so there's no shortage of gossip around town to help you get started. Always start by talking to the villagers, but here are some further tips:
- There are many quests that require you to talk to villagers or bring villagers stuff. The best way to do that and ensure that you're not accidentally gifting them is to hold the quest item (the broken tractor part, not what they asked you for) in your hand when approaching the villager. If you don't have the quest object, hold nothing. Even in quests where you have to bring an item to the villager, holding nothing will work - it's like the Lucky Purple Shorts quest - if the items are in your inventory, they get taken out and the quest proceeds.
- You should focus on getting the tractor unlocked before worrying about the parts. The tractor is very well hidden - thoroughly search the areas hinted at by the villagers.
- Pay close attention to villager chat - they'll start talking about it one week into the game. Old timers will have more to say on the subject than relative newcomers to the town.
- This is built on TractorMod, so you should familiarize yourself with that mod if you are not already.
- There are two items hidden under rocks and logs. You don't need to break the log/rock to get the item (regardless of what the game might tell you).
What you should expect:
- A really motivated player who routinely does first-year community center unlocks can get a fully unlocked tractor by the first day of summer if they really bear down on it and know what the quests will require in advance. More casual users have a good chance to get the tractor and one or two attachments done in that time.
- This mod overrides the TractorMod's settings and cuts out some of the more game-breaking and unrealistic features of it (e.g. you can't milk cows with your tractor in this mod).
- To get the best out of this mod, you should start your game with it or add it in the first year.
- The gold requirements for the fully unlocked tractor are minimal (it's possible to do with as little as 350g), so it works well with playthroughs at lower profit margins. The quests do require a substantial playtime to get through, and that's where the game balance comes in. Note, most of the settings with TractorMod are overwritten by this mod to settings that make the tractor balanced. If you're looking for a tractor that makes your playthrough go much quicker, then you're probably best to stick with the base tractor mod and customize it to your tastes.
- MultiPlayer - Farmhands can run the tractor, but cannot complete or contribute meaningfully to quests. The reasoning behind it is the tractor and its capabilities are a function of the farm. The missing parts and such wouldn't make sense if there were duplicates of them, and it seems bad to have the possibility that a missing farmhand could completely block progress because they had the one part that was needed to move forward. If you think differently, post your thoughts.
