I loved the new crops, but didn't feel like they were very well integrated, so to speak! They just don't feel like local veggies and fruits seemingly common to the area, what with their seeds being found all throughout town. You mean to tell me Caroline isn't growing carrots in that little back garden of hers? Vincent isn't complaining about having to eat his mom's funky squash casserole..?
If you're someone who's been thinking these new crops could use a little more love, too, then this mod is for you!
Hidden Crop Recipes adds a total of 10 new cooking recipes using Content Patcher, with at least 2 recipes for each crop.
Some basic info:
- Recipes are known by default! You don't have to do anything special to get them, but your progression as far as actually being able to cook them will naturally be limited by your access to their seasonal ingredients. Spoiler:ShowI actually tried to have an option for recipes to be sold at the Saloon, but I was having a problem where the recipe would show up, yet it would display 'costs 1 woods and 2 sap' and 'provides a modest amount of light', then not actually yield the recipe... Whoops! If I ever find out how to fix this issue, I'd love to add an option for this.
- All recipes have their own unique NPC likes and dislikes! Wherever possible I tried my best to take into account their existing gift tastes, whether they like the main ingredients in the dish, etc. Of course, I used my imagination a little too!
- Each recipe can be switched off in the config if you like! Obviously throw away any dishes you've already got in your bag that you no longer want before toggling them off if you don't want to end up with a funky red circle, but if you just really hate one of the foods added, no worries-- just turn it off, and only play with the recipes you do want in your game. :)
- My goal was to make these as vanilla-friendly as possible. Are they balanced? To the best of my ability, yep! Check the spoiler below to see the formula I used to calculate the energy values for these foods. Currently none of these new dishes have any crazy buffs either. They are just nice to eat and perhaps gift. :)
-Added the base energy restore value of each individual ingredient at regular star quality;
-Where applicable, used values of 'small white egg', 'large milk', and 'wild honey' respectively;
-Added a flat +25 per each Cooking Staple where applicable (flour, oil, sugar, etc.) instead of its tooltip value;
-Multiply the resulting value by 1.05 (this is on the basis that the point of cooking food is to increase its nutritional yield-- this amounts to a modest ~5% increase than if you had eaten the ingredients raw);
-Rounded up resulting number to the nearest 5.
Price formula: Just added the base price of the ingredients at regular quality, sometimes rounding to the nearest 5 when I felt like it. No multipliers-- Stardew isn't really a cooking game, after all, so there's no need for cooking to be super profitable! Sure, I suppose you might make 5 or 10g here and there if you only ever use the cheapest possible ingredients, but don't expect anything too crazy :)

That's it! I've been working on these for about a week now. I really wanted these recipes to feel thoughtful-- the veggie dishes are based on real recipes I looked up while searching for ideas; the Powdermelon recipes were a little harder as it is a fictional fruit, but I wanted to make something that suited the spirit of Stardew (the Boreal Plate in particular was inspired by a cross between Autumn's Bounty and Red Plate!) I hope you enjoy them!<3

Installation
- This mod is for Stardew Valley 1.6
- Please make sure that you have the latest versions of SMAPI and Content Patcher installed
- I recommend having Generic Mod Config Menu installed for configuration, but this is optional
- Unzip into your game's Mods folder, as per usual
- For Uninstallation: please throw away any existing copies of the cooked dishes in your game before uninstalling if you don't want to see strange icons in your fridge/bag after the mod is removed, but even if you forget you should be fine as long as you don't try to eat them! Otherwise, simply delete "[CP] Hidden Crop Recipes" from your mods folder.
