Adjusts stats of weapons to bring power levels of swords, daggers, and clubs closer together to both improve the feel of non-sword melee combat and to bring powerful modded weapons into line with both vanilla and other modded weapons. Modded weapon changes are optional and include weapons from both RSV and SVE.

Attempts to bring a sense of "class" standards to the game's different weapon types so that not using swords feels more enjoyable, and also changes stats of modded weapons to reflect the stages at which one obtains them (to my taste).

I made this originally for my Stardew group to use, and ended up deciding to share it! Our setup includes both Stardew Valley Expanded and Ridgeside Village. Putting two very separate large expansion mods together is inherently going to show off developer design differences, not only in the weapon stats themselves but also the stats and spawn quantities of the monsters added. When you also look at the vanilla weapons, intended for vastly fewer and vastly weaker monsters, sometimes you might wish that weapons obtained with the same amount of work or time no matter the content source were equally viable, or at least close to "equally" without stripping the weapon pool of identity.

I have changed many weapons of each type to both buff ones that I felt asked too much time of the player for their stats compared to their peers, and to nerf ones which in my mind far outclassed other weapons either in the same gameplay stage or with otherwise similar requirements to get. I dearly appreciate all the balancing work that the Stardew Valley Expanded and Ridgeside Village teams put into their modded weapons for the purposes they're made to serve in their respective mods. This mod is purely a work of preference. Most of the changes are to damage minimums and maximums, defense, and crit chances.

This mod was made for a setup that enacts a decent limit on FTM's simultaneous monster spawns per location. My group often plays very split up across the game world, and some of these modded combat maps are huge so they can be packed for exploration. I do the absolute least combat in our group when playing co-op; I made this while screen-sharing most changes with my sister who does the most combat in our group. She and the others we play with have received the changes in practice pretty well. I feel my changes to the weapons I've touched play nice with our spawn limit so that enemies aren't dying faster than the map can reasonably populate.

I have not tested this mod's changes with an unedited FTM limit, and likely won't as long as 2/4 of my group plays on laptops and a WiFi extender. I may make a file with flat slight stat increases across the board for those who don't limit FTM down the line, but I encourage trying the current version first if you're interested in the meantime.

You can use this mod without some or any of its soft requirements if you wish; the config allows for separately enabling or disabling vanilla changes, SVE changes, RSV changes, and one changed weapon in visorlights' Emet-Selch mod. The only hard requirements are SMAPI and Content Patcher.

Find my list of changes below. Weapons and stat values that are not mentioned have not been changed by me. Initially, I attempted to adjust knockback on a lot more weapons than in the final file, but I had a lot of difficulty on weapons that already had knockback modifiers. I'm not satisfied with where I left a lot of knockback values in the end, but that's something I can rectify in the future when my understanding has improved. For the most part, my changes at present are for damage minimums and maximums, defense values, and critical strike chance.

Installation is the same as every other Content Patcher mod. All config options besides vanilla weapons are disabled by default.

Note that if you install this mod on an existing save, you will need to acquire another copy of the weapon you want changed, as weapons already present in inventories and chests in the save file will not change retroactively. I recommend CJB Item Spawner if you would prefer that over console commands.
