Crazy Ed's Crazy Fruit Trees

Ever wished you could grow some of the wild forageable fruits in Stardew Valley? Well, Crazy Ed has you covered! In this mod, you'll find a range of new fruit trees that produce fruits typically only found as forageables, giving you a fresh way to boost your farm's productivity. Visit Crazy Ed's eccentric store, tucked away in in the mountains, where you'll find the saplings to get started. While Crazy Ed may not be too chatty for now, his unique inventory more than makes up for it!

Current Features:

  • New Fruit Trees: Grow fruits like Crystal Fruit,  Spice Berries, and even Golden Coconets that you’d usually have to forage for.
  • New Fruit (with Tree): Introducing the Prickly Pear! A more golden, sweet... cactus fruit?  This is just a cactus, isn't it?
  • Custom Character: Meet Crazy Ed, an odd but helpful character (currently non-sociable).
  • Custom Location: Explore Crazy Ed's shop in the mountains.
  • Festival Integration: Get new trees based around the different festivals you join. (Currently only available for the Egg Festival.)
  • Bachelor/ette Love Trees: Once you reach 4 hearts with one of the bachelors or bachelorettes, you can purchase a tree designed around them. "Fruit" is geodes that, when broken, will give you one of their loved gift items (excluding universally loved items).

1.2.0 Update - Ore You Happy to See Me?

  • New Mining Bushes: Do you want some of that sweet, sweet ore but don't feel like (or have the time to) exploring the mines? Bring the ore to you! Several new "bushes" which will grow, and regrow, ore you can find in the mines.
    • Each bush takes 7 days to mature, and will continue to produce every 4 days.
    • Plant them anytime - they're not picky! They work in all four seasons.
    • Produces 1 to 5 ore per harvest. The Egg Tree will grow with your Farmer!
    • Get more ore the higher your Farming level. (Below levels are expected additional ores at Farming Level 10)
      • Coal: 2 additional ore.

      • Iron: 4 additional ore.
      • Gold: 3 additional ore.
      • Iridium: 2 additional ore.

    • Buy the seeds regardless of what level mine you reached.
  • New Gem Bushes: Ore isn't the only one converted to a crop. Check out some gems as well!
    • Gems include: Emerald, Aquamarine, Ruby, Amethyst, Topaz, Jade, and Diamond.
    • Each bush takes 14 days to mature, and will continue to produce every 7 days.
    • Plant them anytime - they're not picky! They work in all four seasons.
    • Produces only 1 gem, without any additional gems per harvest.
  • New Crop/Currency: Introducing the Fruitful Parchment. This scroll is grown like a crop, but has no value except to trade for other goods with Crazy Ed.

    • The Egg Festival shop will still have inventory available for gold.
  • New Inventory
    • Once you can trade with Crazy Ed, you will be able to buy all the trees formerly available (minus the Bachelor/ette Love Trees and the Egg Trees, unless you get the corresponding mail unlocking them).
    • Inventory includes seeds typically not available for purchase in Pelican Town, at least not in Year 1.
      • Stock with some seeds will be available during their corresponding season.
      • Stock is limited to 3/day for these seeds.

Planned Future Updates:

  • More Trees: Expect a wider variety of trees with more unique fruit to cultivate. Some may even be really out there... How about a fish tree? Or a Luau tree?
  • Expansion... expansion: Some expansions have their own forageables... Crazy Ed wonders if he could develop a tree for them. Maybe?
  • Character Expansion: In future updates, Crazy Ed may become sociable, with dialogue and gifts.
  • New Machines: I wonder what Diamond Wine tastes like...
  • New Crops: Battery bushes, anyone? How about a Quartz flower?

Please Give Feedback:

  • This mod is fun to come up with ideas. But I would love to hear from you! Let me know how you're enjoying it.
  • How is the parchment trading?  Do you think they're too easy and the prices should go up, or do you think they're too strict and should go down?
  • Have an idea of a tree or crop? Let me know! I have a few in mind, but I would love to hear about other ideas.
  • Reach out to me through here or by email ([email protected]).

This mod creates a door in the mountains near Linus and the large tree, so should be compatible with the Vanilla game and Stardew Valley Expanded. It may not work for other mods which alter the mountain.

This mod is a spiritual successor to Syanide23's mod Fruit Trees for Vanilla Forage Fruits. The original assets have been reused with Syanide23's permission. Users of the original mod may find some differences with this mod:
  • Some names of trees may have been changed.
  • Changed the Cactus tree to Prickly Pear. Since cactus' can be grown, I wanted something else.
  • Some prices may have been changed. I tried to keep the prices comparable or matching other fruit trees based on the price of the fruit they provide.
  • Saplings are sold in the custom shop instead of Pierre or Sandy.
