As of version 1.0.2, SleepAnimationFix has been replaced by the new LessCreepyCore. If you downloaded the previous versions of this mod, please make sure to delete SleepAnimationFix when you update!
It happens to most every Stardew player eventually: Your spouse asks if you want to have a baby, and you click "Yes" without putting too much thought into it. However, once your child is born, they do not resemble you or your spouse whatsoever, and also look lowkey creepy. Even if your child was adopted, they still probably look creepy. Even worse, when they go to bed each night, they sleep with their eyes wide open, staring straight ahead like they're having a deep existential crisis.
If this has ever happened to you, then Kali's Less Creepy Kids is the solution for you! If you are married, your child will automatically resemble your spouse, and at night, your toddlers will actually sleep.
If your child is adopted, they will obviously not resemble your spouse, but rather they will be pulled from one of twelve possible Adopted Child textures!
On top of not looking scary anymore, your toddlers will also have seasonal outfit tweaks in Fall and Winter, and they will be all dressed up for the Flower Dance!
But I divorced my kids' parent! Will they still look like my ex-spouse?
By default, no. The default replacements in this mod are based on your current spouse. However, you may have noticed this mod has both a Content Patcher and Alternative Textures component; you can use the Scissors from Alternative Textures to give your child a little makeover so they still resemble their parent, even if you're no longer married to them!
What if I have multiple spouses? Who will they look like then?
By default, if you're married to multiple characters, your kids will take after the first spouse you married. This is unfortunately just a limitation with the way Content Patcher's "Spouse" token is handled, but this is another instance where the Alternative Textures component comes in! If your kids look like Spouse #1, but the parent is Spouse #2, you can just give them a makeover with the Scissors from Alternative Textures!
But if I use the Alternative Textures sprites, won't I lose the Fall/Winter and Flower Dance outfits?
Nope! Regardless of whether you're using the Content Patcher or Alternative Textures side of the mod, all of the configuring and dynamics apply, so your kids will still have the Seasonal and Flower Dance outfits! This is done through Alternative Texture's Content Patcher integration with Content Patcher editing the Alternative Texture files the same as they do the base game child sprites, so just make sure you have both the Alternative Textures mod and the Content Patcher mod, even if you only plan to use the AT sprites!
When you download Kali's Less Creepy Kids, the folder must contain at least these three folders:
-[CP] Less Creepy Kids
-[AT] Less Creepy Kids
-LessCreepyCore
If you download any of the additional Alternative Textures packs, you can add those to the Kali's Less Creepy Kids folder as well.
What if I'm using Diverse Stardew Valley? Will my kids still look like my spouse if I use DSV's modded variant?
Why, yes! All Child textures for the vanilla marriage candidates will match the modded variation of their respective "parent" based on your DSV settings, no extra configuring needed! This applies to both the default Child textures and Alternative Textures.
But I'm married to another player in co-op! What will my children look like then?
If you spouse is another player in co-op, the default texture of your child will unfortunately be unchanged. However, you can use the Alternative Textures component to manually set your child's sprite to whatever you'd like, including the 12 "Adopted Child" textures, should you not want you OC child to resemble one of the NPC spouses. I will look into adding more configuration of "OC" kids in future updates.
But I'm married to [insert spouse here] from [insert mod here]! Will my child still look like them?
That depends, but mostly yes! By default Less Creepy Kids contains textures for the following mods' marriage candidates, and has separate optional files you can download to add each of their respective Child textures to the Alternative Textures component:
-Stardew Valley Expanded(+added compatibility Magnus' changing hair colors in Seasonal Outfits - Slightly Cuter Aesthetic for SVE)
-Ridgeside Village
-East Scarp**
**For East Scarp, I've included Child textures for every marriage candidate listed on the East Scarp Wiki with the exception of Sen since his mod already includes Child textures**
What else does this mod do?
Contrary to popular belief, Less Creepy Kids does not only provide retextures for the children. This mod also allows you to customize the outfits and blocks for your crib-bound babies, as well as a few different color options for the crib and crib bedding, all handled through the mod's config menu. If you have Stardew Valley Expanded and Seasonal Outfits - Slightly Cuter Aesthetic for SVE , and you're married to/manually set your child's texture to Magnus, your child's hair color will change seasonally to match their dad!
Config Settings:
General Settings:
- Enable Default Child Changes - True or False - Toggles the default Child edits on or off for better compatibility with other mods that may modify the child's texture
- Skin Color - Default or Darker - Toggles between the Default skin color for the respective marriage candidate or a darker variant. Only applies for vanilla marriage candidates' children, whether via default replacements or Alternative Textures
- Girl Toddler Hairstyle - Hairbuns or Pigtails - Toggles between the two hairstyle options for female toddlers
- Boy Toddler Hairstyle - Combed or Messy - Toggles between the two hairstyle options for male toddlers

- Crib Color - Default, White, Black, Birch, Oak, Walnut- Choose the color of your babies' crib. Since some interior recolor mods also recolor the crib, "Default" disables any changes, so it's the default for your game.
- Crib Bedding Color - Default, Pink, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple - Choose the color of the bedding in your babies' crib. As with the Crib Color, the "Default" is whatever the default is in your game
- Sebastian Ginger Babies - True or False - Enable if you'd like Sebastian's kids to have red hair like his mom
- Juliet Hair Color - Red or Natural - Toggle between Juliet's red hair or her natural light brown hair. If you don't have the Less Creepy Kids East Scarp AT Pack and/or Juliet and Jessie the Joja Clerks by Lemurkat installed, you can ignore this setting.
