Changelogs

Baubles is a crafting-focused item expansion that adds lots of toys, ceramics and other knickknacks to decorate spaces with, make a profit from, or gift away. After being sent a letter by the farmer's distant relative, you'll be able to spin thread, dye cloth with foraged wildflowers, find and sculpt rare porcelain, and harness the power of elvish alchemy in order to craft the (current number of) 74 baubles!

Sea Island Cotton grows in Summer and Fall. Its fruit can be spun into thread using a loom, or used raw in crafting.

Pelican Bells appear as forage in Spring, and Bat Flowers appear during Fall... or anytime on Ginger Island, its native continent. The Flowers are used for both crafting and dyeing, but their natural abundance means that no one bothers to sell their seeds -- you'll have to find or produce them on your own.

Growing them yourself provides the benefit of being able to harvest them in other seasons -- Pelican Bells surviving in Winter and Bat Flowers in Summer!

Star Jelly is a strange substance that appears the morning after a rainy day. It can be processed in a furnace to make Crystalized Star Jelly, which alongside making it look nicer, transforms it into an important crafting and processing ingredient...

Petuntse is hard to find -- so hard in fact, that it's native to a continent unreachable by the farmer. However, you'll be able to buy them from the Traveling Merchant, Desert Trader and Island Trader for high prices. The expensive and widely-loved Porcelain can be made from firing this in a furnace -- use of Crystalariums is recommended!

The Atelier Table is your own personal bottega. All of the new baubles can only be made from here, not in your regular crafting menu. The blueprints to build one are sent to the farmer on their first day, along with an optional quest that's turned on by default in the mod's config.

The Dyeing Pot can be bought from Robin's shop. Included in your purchase is its recipe and a Dye Guide, letting you check the instructions for making each color of wool in-game. To ensure your dyeing goes smoothly, check that you're holding the first item in the color recipe when clicking on the pot! Colored wool can be spun into colored cloth the same as regular wool.

The Frogstone creates Star Jelly during Rain, Storms or Snow, and is learned at Foraging level 3. Harvesting from it also gives Foraging experience!

The Whimsychine is an elvish invention that opens the door to a small but extravagant school of Curiosity Alchemy, harnessing the power of whimsy itself to help you craft Curios, this mod's universally-loved, most enigmatic and most profitable items. How to use this machine is intentionally kept mysterious, but a hint is provided in-game. However, if you'd rather know right away, click the spoiler section below.

Spoiler:
Show
Load a Fairy Stone, 5 Solar Essences, 5 Void Essences, and 10 Crystalized Star Jellies into the machine to create a Petrichor Heart.

Additionally, putting certain non-Curio baubles into the Whimsychine can change their appearance -- there are currently ~50 varieties to discover in total! These changes are purely cosmetic and don't affect their price (and were not given gift tastes in order to avoid clogging certain menus).

The Whimsychine and all Curio recipes are learned through a special book sent to your mailbox, and the unlock conditions for its appearance can be toggled in the mod's config:

Spoiler:
Show
MakeFriendsGet the "Networking" achievement. The default option.

CompleteCC: Complete the Community Center.

Bookseller: Purchase the recipe book from the Bookseller.

Free: Everything is sent to you immediately.

A quest involving the Wizard and Whimsychine can also be unlocked if quests are toggled on.

There are two optional Alternative Textures packs that can be found underneath the main mod.

Baubles AT
offers another way to acquire the new furniture included in the main mod by retexturing vanilla tables and end tables to be fancy displays or invisible. It also retextures houseplants to be the new growth and harvest stages of the new wildflower crops!

Minimalist Mode is essentially an ultralight version of the base mod. Retexture small decor into every bauble, curio and variant -- no crafting, farming or foraging required. It's not the recommended experience, but it will save you time and storage if you just want to decorate with few extra steps!

Baubles' crops and forage use unique internal ids and display names, so they currently do not conflict code-wise or immersion-wise with items from other crop, flower and forage focused mods.

Gift taste and forage spawn patches have been included for:

Stardew Valley Expanded
East Scarp
...And eventually others!

Baubles also has an object tilesheet included in a separate file. As long as it's listed as dependency, other modders are welcome to make use of it for map patches, custom locations or other content.

If there's a mod I should add forage spawn locations for, or you've made an NPC that you'd like a gift taste patch for, please let me know!

If items are not appearing in menus or shops:

Check to make sure the vendor is not at the Island Resort, as stocks can revert to vanilla.
Make sure every dependency is added and up to date! Baubles relies on several frameworks and can crash or delete items if one or more of them isn't functioning correctly or able to load.

If something went wrong in multiplayer:

This mod is currently untested in multiplayer, but should function smoothly if no players are missing this mod or its frameworks. Make sure everyone has the same mods, and especially the same dependencies!

Mail not appearing on established saves:

There's a chance modded mail won't send correctly if added mid-game -- in case this happens, here's a list of console commands to instantly bring up the intro letter and unlock-able letters:

Spoiler:
Show
Intro letter: "debug showmail appleseed.BCP.BaublesIntro"
Curio book letter: "debug showmail appleseed.BCP.CurioBookLetter"
Whimsychine hint: "debug showmail appleseed.BCP.WhimsychineHint"
Wizard's quest letter: "debug showmail appleseed.BCP.WizardRequest"

Note: the last two letters are meant to be sent the day after you read the book! Forcing them to be viewed early could cause errors.

Here's a list of potential content I'd like to add in the future!

  More Items and Variations

  More Quests

  Special Orders

  More Mod Compatibility

This mod wouldn't have been made without the wonderful work of Wildflourmods, Acearohippo, Lumisteria and 6480/MizuJakkaru that continuously inspired me. Please check out their mods too if you haven't already!

Thank you to the community in the Krobus discord server for additional inspiration and encouragement -- especially Lemurkat, who suggested a few features and lended her help with debugging!

Thank you to Kdau for his Scroll Generator!

Lastly, thank you to everyone who endorsed, commented on, left bug reports on, or just downloaded and enjoyed Trinkets!

If you'd like to support me even further, I now have a Kofi! Any donations made are infinitely appreciated ( and the extra coffee goes a long way in helping me work on what I like -- which is modding and making pixel art! )
