UPDATE: Attention Harvey lovers and other balloon fanatics! There's now an additional version of the mod that transforms the Hot Air Balloon Obelisks into furniture. The Hot Air Balloons furniture can be animated, too, including the farm one. Or you could buy the static version, or mix both styles, it's your choice.
Whereas you previously could only have one of each version, the Hot Air Balloon furniture can be bought as many times as you want. Want to have a farm covered in Hot Air Balloons? Now you can. Want to put a Hot Air Balloon right outside Harvey's windows so he can gaze upon it every day first thing in the morning? You can do that, too! (you'd better have Non Destructive NPCs installed, then, or the balloon will go bye-bye the first time someone bumps into it).
You'd better be ready to pay a steep price to fulfill those aeronautic dreams, though: the Hot Air Balloons are sold at the Casino, for the not-inconsiderable price of 15 000 Qi coins (static version) and 20 000 Qi Coins (animated version)! This is a very special kind of furniture, after all, and the Casino owner believes the extraordinary must be treated as such. If wallpapers go for 10 000 coins, the Balloons can't fall behind.
(If you find the price really too expensive, I can be persuaded to modify it, or you can alter the content.json yourself to choose something more appropriate for your playstyle.)
The Hot Air Balloon furniture has the same size as the Obelisks, so they're meant to be placed outside only, unless you have something like Build and Place Anything Anywhere, in which case your farmhouse could become a balloon hangar if you so desire. A warning, though: if you go for the animated versions, having too many on the same map might cause some lag. One of each of the six is fine, 12 total is okay, but 50 might be a bit much, even if you want Harvey to feel in his element.
The Hot Air Balloons furniture requires Content Patcher only, but if you want the animated version you will need Spacecore, too. This furniture version does not preclude the other two, you can have Obelisks that look like Balloons and Balloons as furniture, they're perfectly compatible.
Enjoy the Hot Air Balloons bonanza!
As always, thanks to zilchaz and Paul Dunstan for the original mod and the permissions. The assets are theirs.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
zilchaz and Paul Dunstan's Hot Air Balloon Obelisks (found here) were no longer playable in the latest version of SDV due to Content Patcher Animations becoming deprecated. But those same functions can be handled through Spacecore, so I converted the mod to become dependent on Spacecore instead. There's a CP version, that functions exactly like the original mod, meaning you choose if the obelisks are animated or not. The Gold Clock can also be animated (the base game´s version, it's not a new asset). All configurable through the Generic Mod Configuration Menu or the config.json.
And as a bonus there's an Alternative Textures version, for those who like to cycle between looks. The AT version doesn't have the farm obelisk though, due to its technical specificity (instead of being codified in Data/Buildings, the base game stores it in Maps, for some reason, so AT can't work for it). Also, the AT obelisks are not animated, because Alternative Textures animates craftables and furniture, but not buildings.
Both versions include the optional Deep Woods Obelisk, from the Deep Woods mod, even though that obelisk is disabled for now (February 2025), as you can see in the mod's description. If this causes technical issues for you, let me know and I'll release a separate file.
All the credit goes to zilchaz and Paul Dunstan, who created the original mod, and the assets are theirs. Thanks for letting me publish this, zilchaz!
The kudos should go their way, but in case of technical issues, address them to me please.
This should work for both old and new saves, it's been tested. Download the version you want and unzip it into your Mods folder.
Updated to 1.0.1 to recalibrate the animation timeframes. Important: the animated farm obelisk currently isn't working. The static version is fine. While I work on the issue, either remove the farm obelisk or the animation option through GMCM (recommended) or the config.json. The advantage of doing it through GMCM is that you can do it in-game, meaning you can make the adjustment as needed every time you're on the Island farm.
