Additional maps/areas for all foragers and adventurers!

  • Trees can be planted into grass on both the first and second large maps. These are intended to be used as 'wood/tapping farms'.
  • Plenty of regenerating Oak/Maple trees already present for tapping/harvesting, plus regenerating hardwood stumps.
  • Secret woods fish can be found in the waters on every map.
  • Numerous berry bushes on all maps for harvesting salmonberries/blackberries when in season.

Foraging Types:

Forgotten Farm (first main area): Vanilla secret woods items (Mushrooms/Fiddlehead Fern/Holly), plus seasonal vegetables* to forage in front of the Forgotten Farmhouse.

Forgotten Hill (second main area): All seasonal vanilla forageables can spawn here, plus seasonal flowers* (Traveling Cart varieties) can be foraged in the cemetery.

Forgotten Shrine (third main area): Seasonal fruit* will spawn here, as well as 'other' forageables when the weather turns colder..

* - All 'forageables' are affected by the Foraging 'Botanist' skill (where applicable); i.e. if you have this skill you will pick up iridium quality vegetables/flowers/fruit.

  • Six 'hidden' additional areas/maps to find, each with a 'treasure' or different/rare 'foragables'.
  • A five-part treasure hunt, including a sword that's unobtainable in the vanilla game. All clues can be found scattered on the Hill map (second large map).
  • Four hidden interactive 'Seasonal Shrines' to discover.

Advice for adventurers:

If something looks like a note/letter/plaque; it can be read and will usually be a clue.

When looking for hidden areas, always look out for stepping stones on the floor; these will guide you to new/secret places.

Is this mod compatible with Stardew Valley Expanded and Deepwoods?
Yes.

Is this mod compatible with other Expansion Mods?
Expansion mods add extra areas to Stardew Valley. As long as they don't change the very small area of the secret woods (vanilla and SVE) where my entrance is, this mod should be fully compatible with other expansions. Please check the 'Images' tab to see the location of the entrance.

Is this mod compatible with other Secret Woods Mods?
My mod literally only affects that tiny area where I've placed my entrance and the stepping stones (it's only 8x6 tiles wide) . Any other secret woods mod will be compatible if their entrance/expansion does not use/alter the same location as my entrance.

Currently Compatible Secret Woods Mods:
Deepwoods
Lnh's Small Additional Area
Secret Woods Extra Area

Is this mod compatible with recolour mods?
It should be, yes. This mod has been tested with Vibrant Pastoral and works perfectly with it. Any plain recolour mods should be fine, though mods that alter the design of buildings, such as the Stardrop Saloon or the Adventurer's Guild, may cause graphical glitches in this mod.

Where is the entrance?

Under the 'Images' header there are pictures of the entrance location for both the vanilla secret woods and the Stardew Valley Expanded secret woods.

How do you leave the Forgotten Woods?
Continue though the areas until you reach the Junimo Shrines. Exit to the south-east and you will find a waving Junimo statue. Stand on the flashing green sigil and it will teleport you back to the vanilla secret woods. You can always leave the same way you entered though, if you wish.

Please help, I'm lost!
There is a .png map available to download. Go to the 'Files' tab and you will find it under 'Optional Files'. This map shows how to navigate through the main 4 areas of The Forgotten Woods. Please note that this is not an in-game map; it is a picture that you can open and view.

I'm using the Frontier Farm on SVE and there are no foragables/monsters showing up on your maps!
If you delete the "Frontier Farm" folder and then reinstall Frontier Farm, it should fix the problem.

Where are the extra six maps? What are their foragables/perks?
Spoiler:
Show
Forgotten Picnic - Found on the first map. Click on the rowboat west of the farmhouse. Foraging = cooked food (seasonal)

Forgotten Farmhouse - Found on the first map. Click on the broken planks in the doorway of the farmhouse. Foraging = wine (Travelling Cart variety)

Forgotten Crypt - Found on the second map. Click on the door of the largest crypt in the cemetery. Foraging = purple mushroom

Forgotten Peak - Found on the second map. Head to the middle of the northern-most point of the map, look for the stepping stones into the trees. Foraging = seasonal flowers (Travelling Cart variety) and normal seasonal forage.

Forgotten Treehouse (1st room) - Found on the third map (Junimo Shrine). Click on the door of the treehouse to the north of the map. No forage, but a perk to be found by right-clicking the small green cauldron.

Forgotten Treehouse (2nd room) - Click on the north door in the first room of the Treehouse. Spring and Autumn spawn beach foragables, Summer spawns Rainbow Shells only, Winter spawns Nautilus Shells only.

How do I find the hidden Seasonal Shrines on Forgotten Hill (second main area)?
Spoiler:
Show
Spring Shrine - When entering the area from the Forgotten Farm (first main area), go east of the first small pool . Follow the stepping stones into the trees and follow the hidden path around.

Summer Shrine - Found to the West after you walk up the first set of stairs on the map. Look for the stepping stones, follow the hidden path.

Autumn Shrine - Accessed from the cemetery on the west side. Look for the stepping stones. While your character is covered under the trees, try to walk north until you access this additional hidden walkway. You may have to keep pressing 'up'/'W' while walking between the Adventurer's Grave and the Cemetery. Don't go too fast and you will find the walkway.

Winter Shrine - Accessed from the cemetery on the east side. Look for the stepping stones near the eastern-most small crypt. Head north once you are in the hidden walkway.

Where are the treasure hunt clues?
Scattered around the Forgotten Hill (second main map). Look for pages on the grass.

Where are the treasures located?

Spoiler:
Show
Clue 1 treasure = Forgotten Farm (first main map)

Clue 2 treasure = Forgotten Picnic (accessed from Forgotten Farm)

Clue 3 treasure = Forgotten Hill (2nd main map)

Clue 4 treasure = Forgotten Peak (accessed from Forgotten Hill)

Clue 5 treasure = Forgotten Shrine (3rd main map, where the Junimo Shrines are)

Can I collect treasure more than once?
No.

Can I collect Seasonal Shrine gifts more than once?
Yes, you can touch the shrines as much as you wish to recieve their blessings.

Why can't I equip the treasure from The Forgotten Picnic?
Lie: Because it's CURSED!
Truth: Because the framework mod I have used (Dymanic Map Tiles) does not handle anything that can be equipped very well. The reason I added this item is for single-player completionists/collectors. The only other purpose for it is to sell for gold.

Why does the skeleton in The Forgotten Farmhouse keep clipping into the TV/other graphics?
Because of the way NPC's work in the game. Unfortunately, I designed such a small area that its logic doesn't like where I've put items. There isn't much I can do about it. Suspend disbelief and just blame the Ancient Doll...that's what I'm doing anyway.

You will need the following to use this mod as well as SMAPI; it will not run without them.

Content Patcher
Farm Type Manager [FTM]
DaisyNiko's Tilesheets
Dynamic Map Tiles

None of these mods will alter your game directly, they just provide the necessary frameworks for The Forgotten Woods to work.

I'd recommend using a mod manager to install The Forgotten Woods.
